If you are looking for an all in one remote that will control just about all your toys, look no further. For the price you can not go wrong $40-$50 bucks on sale. I am currently using this remote to control a Vizio TV, Channel Master DVR+, Samsung Blu-ray Player, Roku 3 & a Samsung Sound Bar System W/Sub and it works very well, it takes a minute or two to get the hang of it, but after that you will not miss having all those other remotes. Setup was a breeze and it is done by creating an account with Logitech online and bamn, you are all done. The only issue that I can see, since I had the remote for a while, is the slippery backside of the remote, it has no grip at all, or should I say very little grip, other than that it is a very good remote with a back-lit keypad and LCD screen. One more thing save your self some time and pick up some rechargeable batteries, it does work with regular batteries, but rechargeable ones work better and last longer. My package did say 2 rechargeable batteries included, but quality control must have been on lunch when the packaged mine, luckily I all ready had AA rechargeable batteries.

Needed a new remote because puppy used the TV remote for a chew toYou, so I didn't do any research ahead of time.
Went to Best Buy because I knew the staff there would know more about remotes than "they are in Isle 12".
A vvery nice, knowledgeable lady walked up and talked me through what would be best for me (I dont see a need to spend 100-200 on a remote).
Setup was really easy, the builtin color screen talks to me in sentences, not cryptic codes or blink sequences. ithe display isn't touch screen, but I'm happy about that. The buttons around the screen you use to select things on the screen work very well. Everything on the display is crisp, we'll lit and easy to read. Plus all the buttons glow in the dark, so I don't have to angle it at the TV to see which button is which.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is sometimes it doesn't turn everything off when I hit the off button. However, the display always asks if everything did what it should, and has a 1-button process to resolve it. A minor annoyance at most. (See attached picture. The display is crystal clear, my iPad just didnt capture it well)
Plus, the following week it went on sale for $10 less, spoke with customer service and they gladly rebat d the difference.

The remote was very easy to set up and get going. I had it set up and working about 20 minutes after I opened the package. Easy enough that my entire family had no problems working it.
Only downfall I have come across is if the remote were to fall off the couch on to carpet, you have to go the guided setup process. It appears that the slightest drop the batteries loose contact with the post. It's a minor problem that will have to accepted.

A very good universal remote

I am a universal remote skeptic. Others I have had simply were not usable in a real home theatre environment. So , I found my self "surrounded" by 4 remotes at all times. Now the others I had were cheaper or came with equipment I purchased. This is the first "premium" remote I have owned. I was convinced by the reviews and Black Friday pricing to give it a try.
This remote passed my useability test easily. I can now use one remote for 99.99 percent of the functions for my equipment. Getting to the commands is not a difficult or time consuming task. The auto start scripts you can program into the unit make selecting starting a DVD movie or Satellite TV a one button push process.
For non-techie types they have made the programming process fairly easy. But to be honest a techie type will be able to make better use of this remote because you can setup some fairly elaborate startup scenarios that make the remote a really good investment.
The only programming issue I ran into is an advanced scenario that predates the design of the remote. In my case I am using my TVs RVU capability that allows it to get video data from a central settop ( direct tv ) box. Direct TV has a handy "red button" sports scores update button on its remote that is not emulated in the TVs RVU function. Since my TV is not in the same room as the set top box the Universal Remote cannot access this one special button feature ( becuase the TV RVU function does not recognize it ). But that is a minor minor issue.
If you always wanted a useful Universal Remote and if you wanted it at a Black Friday price........... this is your opportunity. There are some who dont like the rechargeable battery. Why????? If you dont you can use regular batteries.
Oh the other GREAT feature of this device is that it turns on when you pick it up............. aka no turn on or off step required. That and the back light / screen features make this an easy to use remote. It gets my recommendation........ espeically at a Black Friday Price.
Oh this device also controls my specialty ceiling lights which are dimmed via a LED remote control.......... one less remote again !

I've been using Harmony remotes for a number of years and like them. They are easy to use and easy to program. I now have three of the Harmony 700s. Rechargeable batteries were the selling point for this particular model over similar offerings. I don't understand why this model has been discontinued. I did have one little recharging glitch. I think the battery was getting very low. When I plugged it in the remote would indicate that it cannot charge the battery. Since then, I've never let the batteries get that low and haven't had any problems.

This is a nice improvement over having 5 or 6 remotes in your living room. It is apparently not a simple device, because the techie who set it up spent a while programming it. But it is simple to use. The screen on the remote is a welcome change to the earlier iterations of remotes, where each had its own version of different buttons. Here, the screen tells you exactly what is happening. Two things: It comes with rechargeable batteries, but not a cord. Right now, I am using my Kindle cord to recharge, but including a cord would have been nice (especially for the price). Secondly, it does not do well switching modalities on the fly. For example, if watching TV, you have to turn everything off and then turn everything back on again if you want to switch to your Amazon Firestick or your DVD player. Try to go from one to the other and it does not recognize input. Once you learn that little quirk it's clear sailing.

Remote Control Replacement and Consolidator

I have some very old components that are still functioning. VCRs, Audio sound Systems and Multi-disc DVD players.
My sound system is 20 years old, however the buttons on the remote that came with that device, sticks, jams or just plain fails.
Did some research, and saw this Universal Remote, and thought I'd give it a try. After all, Best Buy has a return policy, so if this did not work on my devices I could return it.
The Logitech - Harmony 700 8-device Universal Remote, has easy to follow instructions, and best results if you set aside a good hour to program the remote control.
The Logitech - Harmony 700 8-device Universal Remote, was able to identify ALL of my equipment including the Comcast DVR and to my surprise, the 20 year old Panasonic sound system.
All together I have consolidated 6 remotes into this 1. No more swapping remotes, or looking in the cushions for another. The Logitech - Harmony 700 8-device Universal Remote combines them all.
After a couple of weeks of use, I actually liked this so much that I purchased another one to use in another room.
Definitely saved me from having to replace my sound system, and no longer have to get up, walk across the room to manually push buttons.
Harmony has a website, that will assist in assigning functions to buttons, and customizing the commands that you choose. I suggest setting aside and hour or so to thoroughly understand how to organize your new remote.
I found that to re-charge, its best to just swap out the batteries, rather than try to charge via USB. Be sure to use 2000 mAh NI-MH rechargeable batteries.
A full charge last approx 2 weeks. To charge via USB takes several hours.
Remote has a nice solid feel to it, and easy to navigate the controls once you have programmed it using the instructions provided on the Harmony website.
Programming/Set-up via USB works better with USB 2 than USB 3.
Ordered from Best Buy and used their Site to store option. Process was very easy, pickup at store was simple and quick.
Very pleased with the Harmony 700 remote.

Remote was compatible with all of my components (Samsung 4k tv, Samsung 4k bluray, Marantz SR 6010, etc). Programmed functions can be finicky. I have to turn the TV off manually about 75% of the time and change the TV input almost half of the time when switching between functions. Battery life if pretty good.

I had the 659 and it was time for a new one after lots and lots of use. I upgraded to this one because it had the recharchability. However I think this remote is slightly delayed compared to my old one. Takes longer to do the same tasks. The charge hold for a good three weeks tho.

Finally can put aside all of the remotes. custom buttons were key to this purchase and in this remote you can customize the buttons and the screen. Able to control TV and soundbar volume in one easy swoop. Haven't found a device it can't control. it even can control and an hdmi switch. Programming remote is not pain staking. Would recommend for all.

Very pleased with this Logitech remote. I have an older Harmony One that cost a lot more than this one, and this one is almost as powerful. For the most part I like this button layout as opposed to some of their other layouts as it puts most of the frequently used buttons within reach of your thumb. It also lights up automatically when you pick it up which is great at night time. And as usually, this Logitech remote works with almost anything (except Bluetooth devices). The rechargeable battery seems to last quite a long time, and beats having to replace batteries all the time. It feels good in the hands and was well worth the $50 I paid for it.

Our OEM remotes had buttons that were intermittent and the RCA remotes didn't have all functions so I thought I'd try this one. The good - I can do everything for the TV and DVD/VCR that I can do with the original remote. I also set multiple on-button turn-on/off sequences (like TV, and DvD including setting TV input on with one push). Not so good - runs on NMHi batteries that have a high self-discharge rate. Programming is easy, but loading to the remote has been hit or miss - I'm averaging 2 load tries each time I make a change.

I got this remote a month ago "deal of the day" and love it. It controls everything, tv, DVR, Apple TV and the kitchen sink. Went the whole month on one charge. The display is easy to read. The button lights are easily seen in a dark room. The online set up was a breeze.

I purchased this remote since my Onkyo receiver remote would not turn the receiver on/off any more and I couldn't find the codes online to add to other remotes I have. Setup of the Harmony was a snap. I was able to add the TV, B-ray, receiver and uverse dvr in no time. No need to search for codes. Harmony's database had them all. Only issues I've run into is charging the remote - It wants a specific charger to charge it. I've tried multiple USB chargers but it only seems to like my iPhone SE cube. If I'd followed their online support, it would have had me return the remote rather than explain it want's a specific volt/amp combo. Also it won't charge over the USB port when connected to a computer. Other issue I've had is it being able to run the Activities program to completion. Activities are where you program the Harmony to turn on different devices with different settings in a specific order. An example would be turning on the receiver after the DVR, TV and have the TV on HDMI 1 and the receiver set to VC1. Sometimes the receiver doesn't get turned on. The good news is that the remote has a Help button so if the activity doesn't run correctly or something doesn't turn on, you press the Help button and it walks you through what it needs to do.
Overall it's working well. But a little pricey. Wait to buy it on sale.

This is my 3rd Harmony remote and I love it. It has a nice sleek design, easy to hold, Works perfect with all of my equipments (even the android box from China), at very affordable price. I have Harmony 510 and now this. I like the fact that Harmony 510 more customizable compare to Harmony 700, even though it is an older model. Overall I like it. It does the job I need to do without having to juggle multiple remotes. I would recommend this product.

This is an excellent remote for consolidating other remotes onto a single unit. This is the second one of this model I've owned and my 3rd Harmony remote, all on different TVs. I've been very happy with these remotes but one recent change I do not like is the web software used to set the programming. They have improved it by dumbing it down and taking away features which were very important. For example, you no longer control the sequence of devices being turned on, it's done for you. This is a key feature since you typically have to turn on the cable box, tv, then receiver in a certain order. If this is not a big deal then buying this remote is a good choice.

I like it! I was able to bring over the settings from my previous remote using the Harmony software, which saved quite a bit of time. There are a lot of menus and submenus that take a while to get familiar with, but all good once you get used to it. I really like the appearance of the remote, an appealing dark grey color. Haven't had to plug it in for a few weeks so far. You will need an adapter to plug the usb cable into the wall. Good remote if you're not looking to spend a ton.

My 650 was old and worn, buttons a little slow to work, but wasn't sure I needed this one. I mostly wanted the ease of rechargeable batteries, but found it is quite a bit better overall. The functions seem to work much faster, and more operations work with 700 than my old remote. I still need my TV and Cable Box remotes for some things, but the 700 does most of what I need.

I bought this (on sale at half price) to replace an identical remote because the plug for the charging and syncing cable wore out on the old one. Couldn't recharge or change any settings. Hope the same doesn't happen to this one. Easy to set up online and charge with the cable. Fortunately it also works with regular batteries in addition to the rechargeable ones provided.
