Yeah, you need to open it to do anything useful. You can use hands free to answer calls, etc. I'd recommend a Wear OS device (smart watch) to bridge the gap as this phone isn't super fast to check notifications or a quick photo/post. Its definitely got a focus on productivity when the screens are open, which is cool, but it makes it less than practical for most use cases. You really have to want this dual screen form factor. Past that it's immensely useful. You can use the phone as a very very very expensive flashlight without opening it by double tapping the power button. So you can so SOMETHING without opening the screen :-). Maybe not that useful, but it's something right? haha
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The hinge goes 360 degrees, so you open it all the way and snap it closed in the other direction.

Transitioning to a true dual-screen phone requires rethinking some major use cases for a mobile device. Sure, it can take and make calls. But it's also a hybrid use case for a tablet, but with two screens. Even with a regular phone, you'd have to do something to take a phone call. Same with any function concerning Bluetooth or Android Auto. You still have to do something to answer a call. As for functions available with the screen closed, yes there are notification bubbles available on the spine. Looking for a feature you don't get with an exposed-screen phone? How about "built-in" screen protection?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you can make phone calls with a bluetooth device connected to it and you do not have to open the device, you can also get a hand transplant so you can handle bigger things and not post dumb questions
