• Yes/no. The Microsoft surface dock has to be purchase UNLESS the external has a usb-c port.

• Yes. I got a USB-c adapter that has 4 additional usb ports. I then connect an external hard drive to the Surface go.

• Yes a HD/SSD/Thumb drive can be attached to the GO. You need an adapter - "USB C to USB 3.0 OTG adapter". I got two for $7.99.

• Yes, as long as the external hard drive can be connected to a USB type C port, and is compatible with the specs of the Surface Go.
