Theoretically, yes. The Surface Pro can support on-screen typing using the touch keyboard button on the system tray (If your device isn't showing the keyboard icon, right-click on the taskbar and highlight "show touch keyboard button"). That being said, depending your use case, if there's space for a keyboard, no matter if it's the recommended pro type cover or an external keyboard, it's easier on tasks to use a physical keyboard.
