“Quick question: my Verizon procured Droid Maxx will automatically switch to GSM when overseas. If I put my Maxx's nano sim in a new G5 Plus, can I expect the same behavior while traveling, or will I have to buy a GSM sim for travel overseas? Thanks!”

Verizon didn't use to use sim cards but the Motorola phones sometimes have a place for dual sim cards. The USA version can only accept 1 sim and an SD card on the reverse side of the sim drawer. You probably could carry the sim card with you and exchange it for the one you use in the States, or buy one local. I put a Verizon sim from Tracfone in my phone to access Verizon. I didn't need a sim on a Moto E from Tracfone to get Verizon, it was built in.
