It doesn't require any specific router, but using one with a 2.5G WAN port will let you get over gigabit speeds (when provisioned.) Sadly, these can be hard to find (Netgear does, of course have a few.)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think it requires a specific router, although I paired mine with an Orbi system, and they work absolutely great together. I chose Orbi, because it's also a Netgear product, so in theory, there should be less risk of incompatibility issues. However, a cybersecurity expert recently recommended that I use different router and gateway manufacturers, since there is less likelihood that the same cyber vulnerability could exist in both devices. In any case, I'm very pleased with the Nighthawk-Orbi combination.
