- Answer Hello, If you mean you want to replace the software installed with the modem/router, no you can not do that. If you mean you can installed your VPN DNS and IP address on it to obtain service, yes you can. You will need to supply your unit Serial number and Mac address to your VPN for their servers to recognize you and allow access. Both of them are printed on the side of the unit for reference.
