Automatic recording happens only when motion is detected, for 12 seconds. You can also watch live video. Live video you watch is also recorded, but only for about 15 to 20 seconds. After which the video terminates automatically.

The camera is not recording 24/7, it only records if you initiate live view, somebody pressed the doorbell or motion is detected. The recording duration is 60 seconds if notification is accepted and 30 seconds when motion is declined or it's a missed motion.
