- Answer We have been babysitting our Daughter’s Large Dog and she does not set off the motion detectors because you can set the motion detectors chime to off settings when we are home.

- Answer Yes these Ring sensors can be used or mounted on horizontal sliding windows and doors. You just mount the operating sensor on the a flat surface and have room for it slide off the mount base to be able to change batteries. The magnetic piece has to be within less than 1/2 inch of the sensor in the window's or door's closed position. I chose to mount the sensor on the upper or top corner of the patio door (operating sensor) and the door frame (magnet piece) that is flat. The wood piece that frames the patio door is not flat but a small aluminum frame is flat and allows the magnetic piece to fit.

- Answer Yes. Our new house had a Ring doorbell but no alarm system. We added the Ring Pro alarm system to our accout that used the Ring Doorbell.

QuestionHow far apart can the sensor and magnet be to remain effective? I have decorative trim on my door that will require the sensor to be about 5/8" - 1" apart.

- Answer The space between the Contact Sensor and the Magnet is 1 inch or less. When you open the door or window, you see the LED flash green (and hear the chirp tone, if enabled). There needs to be ½ inch of space around the Sensor so you can slide it open to replace the batteries.
