“What must the distance be, between doorbell to person at door? Concerned I have a very narrow porch& anyone ringing doorbell would just block camera and only thing displayed would be their clothing. Doorbell is to the side of the door, does not face out.”

The camera is a wide angle. Unless they leaning against it it should be ok. I have two and one is installed similar to your situation and works fine.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can set both the zone for motion detection as well as the distance from the door for motion detection. Included in the kit are two wedges. One can be used to angle the door bell left or right and one to angle the door bell up or down. I used the left to right wedge and it was easy to install as well as angled the door bell to see anyone coming to the door.
