QuestionHow do you charge the battery? how long does it last on a charge?

- Answer I had my battery charging yesterday for 9 hours and today for 12 hours. 21 hours total so far and still not fully charged. If I have to charge this long o can not recommend this product as I’m not happy with that.

QuestionMy front gate is approximately 400 feet from my front door. Is there a distance where the wi-fi doorbell can extend to? Also, is the doorbell waterproof? Thank you.

- Answer The Ring system has a delay and relies heavily on a strong, fast wifi signal; poor wifi will make the delay even worse and may even cause the Ring to lose signal. It's really frustrating, especially for a doorbell system. They have a wifi extender, but I've tried to add it and isn't very good. Your situation of 400 ft obstructed distance is far for even a decent router. Consider getting a mesh wifi system with one unit close to your door or look into a wired system. Ring has a wired version but it's expensive and is POE which most people don't have. In my opinion, pass on the Ring system. Great concept, but flawed design both in product and App; both unreliable, slow and a pain to set up. The delays and range are infuriating. The device appears to be water resistant but the lens needs to be free of water/debris to work properly.

QuestionMy doorbell transformer is kaput and I cannot for the life of me locate it. So I am relegated to using a battery-powered doorbell. So it will not be attached to any wires. How does one prevent the Ring doorbell from just being removed and stolen?

- Answer Hi Larry, Thanks for reaching out. Ring is mounted to a mounting bracket and secured with security screws so that it is not easily removable. If someone does attempt to damage your Ring doorbell, the motion-activated camera will capture a video of them doing so, and you'll be able to use that as video evidence for a police report. In addition, we offer Lifetime Purchase Protection for all devices purchased, and will issue a free replacement if it's stolen or vandalized. QuestionIs it easy to install?

- Answer Wiring is super simple, just 2 wires. If installing into brick then you need a drill to use the included masonry bit. Drilling takes some time, but easy to do I'm under and hour.

QuestionIs the mount for this just flat, or can it be angled a bit, my doorbell is on the side wall and I want to use the existing wire? Can you set it up to record locally without the subscription?

- Answer It comes with a corner mounting kit. The kit didn't work for me so I made a custom one. There is no local storage option you have to use the subscription service which is $30 per year (I think)

QuestionIf I do not hardwire to an existing door bell and use only the battery pack do I need to buy a Ring Chime for inside the house if I wish to hear the door bell ring?

- Answer The doorbell makes a sound which is no where near loud enough to be heard in the house. However, it rings on your device. so if you dont want to buy the chime or chime pro, you and anyone else living in the house need to have the ring app installed to hear the sound when the bell is pressed

QuestionSorry if this has been answered but I just need clarity: I see that I can purchase the Ring2 and it can be used with battery only vs hard wired. If I choose to only use with the battery, does it still use WiFi to record and does it work at night as well?

QuestionIn my mind, alerts mean that I will get notified of activity, but I don't get any at all for motion. I have to constantly look at my activity log to see what has gone on. This doesn't seem right to me. Am I missing something?

- Answer Make sure you have set it for motion alerts as well as alerts when the doorbell is rung. I actually turned off the motion alerts because I was getting too many alerts and just set it for doorbell rings. Hope this helps you.

- Answer I chose the ring 2 with rechargeable battery doesn't have options to hard wire. This is a great choice!! I was little optimistic with battery is a lithium battery holds a charge up to a month not a problem changing out is easy access and I bought a extra battery to change out and charge. The ring pro you can hard wire it to your existing door bell just remove old door bell and connect wires follow wiring illustration instructions.

- Answer You can activate the live view which includes sound, but you would have to keep the link open which also means that the device is recording. I do not believe that there is a way to only do sound. You could just play pre-recorded bird sounds on another device for the same effect.

Whereas our devices that are hardwired, such as our Ring Pro, will be able to detect motion through window glass at a much better rate. - Answer Hi Killjoy520, It is possible under certain circumstances for your device to lose its connection to your Wi-Fi network. It's important to understand that most of these circumstances are temporary. In most cases, as soon as the circumstances that caused the disconnect to occur clear up, your Ring device will automatically reconnect to the network. Very rarely though, your device will remain disconnected. That's when you should run through troubleshooting steps that check the possible sources of the disconnection.
