• It does not need to be paired with a matching dryer. You would certainly want the dryer you choose to have equal or greater capacity.

• Hi, Love, it is not required to use both washer and dryer as a set. You will want to ensure that the dryer has about 1.5 times space as the washer. This is to ensure of even drying. ^Rosi

• Probably not, but I believe these units are a bit taller than most (so much better for my back), so if you want to have a level look in the laundry, you should probably get both.
