I lost my Surface under similar circumstances. This is a much hardier unit. I have already dropped it once (in the month I've owned it) and it is fine. Part of the reason is the padded cover that serves as the stand for the display portion. Another part is that it was simply designed to withstand more "abuse." I really loved my Surface. I'm finding I love this Samsung even more. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The case that comes with it is relatively protective comma certainly a hard materiloal. But the stand that is build in is not real stable... Easy to tip. On the other hand that makes it so easy to flip open and shut and the computer seems to clip on with magnets which make it easy to clip on but also easier to come off .... usually just when you want it to. I love my galaxy book but you should probably check it out in a store to see if it is stable enough for you to feel comfortable with it in your environment.
