The roller on mine comes out with two little tabs and has a plastic spacer built into it that lets you slide scissors or a knife under and hair or string tangled around it. I have a cat, dog and two girls with long hair and it works great

The only maintenance I do is removing the hair every few months from the rotating brush. Its a 5 minute process but necessary. I also recommend the extended warranty. James

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, Given enough time, any vacuum you purchase, will be restricted once your roller bar becomes clogged with hair. That being said, my daughters and I all own this vacuums and it’s never been an issue in any of our homes. We all have pets, and longhair, just realize that occasionally you have to look at your vacuum to make sure the hair is not getting caught. I might also add, these vacuums are extremely easy to keep clean, and remove the hair from the bar. I hope this helps.

The unit will collect hair on the roller over time and cleaning it wont be too time consuming compared to not having to clean the hair yourself. The brush comes out easily and taking a knife and then pulling it out is not that bad.
