It uses your phone's app like apple maps or android's google maps. Once you use the usb cord to connect your phone it automatically changes screen modes and allows you to do more like apple car play, or android auto. This allows you to access apps like navigation, music, messages, phone notifications, and voice controls. This head unit is basically an am fm radio unless you plug in your phone(for the navigation, music, messages, phone, voice controls), usb thumb drive(for music and video), or use the bt audio. It sounds great and has lots of options.

It doesn't have gps navigation but when you plug in your apple or Android phone it will run gps navigation from your phone to the head unit. Works perfectly

No, it does not come with navigation but you can use your cell phone GPS through the USB.
