A:AnswerNo, it’s this a DVD player. It does play all types of DVDs, including the recorded ones such as DVD -R,DVD-RW,DVD +R,DVD +RW, DVD Dual Layer, recorded 3.15” camcorder discs, CDs, CD Rs, and CD RWs. I recommend the Sony BDP-S1700U it’s an entry level blu-ray player that will support DVD. I was going to buy one but it was not in stock, I needed a DVD player only for now so I have one and it works great for that purpose. It’s going to be a while before I make the switch to blu ray so I settled for it as I needed the HDMI interface for my new TV.
A:AnswerI think yo meant comparable, not compatible not sure. The unit you mentioned in your question appears to be a wired Ethernet streaming capable blu ray/dvd player. If yo meant compatible I don’t see why you couldn’t have both connected to a Tv at the same time on different inputs. If you mean comparable then , no. This unit is a DVD only player that upscales to 1080 HDMI, and just plays all types of DVDs and CD’s, and doesn’t stream. It also doesn’t play Blu-ray Discs either.
A:AnswerIt is supposed to play all formats of recorded DVDs. However if a disc is “copied” it may not have the region encoded properly, and may or may not play. It plays all my recorded media fine, but I don’t have any “copies” of anything store bought to try.
A:AnswerIt does have RCA audio output, Dolby AC3 coaxial audio output , and does send audio/video on the HDMI cable as well. If you use your audio receiver to switch your video input you can use any of the modes provided you have the pass through feature to the TV. You need to have a screen to see what the player is doing, since it does not have a display. Everything has to be done on a TV screen , you could hook up A HDMI cable to the TV, and run the audio RCA cables to the stereo, but you need to see the screen to know what track you are on, whether you are playing or paused etc.
A:AnswerThere is no source button on my remote. Your TV would probably have that button, to switch input sources from say, cable, to DVD, to HDMI 1, HDMI2, etc. it depends on how how hook this player up to your TV input panel. It offers both HDMI and standard RCA configuration, but only comes with RCA cables.
