No, it’s this a DVD player. It does play all types of DVDs, including the recorded ones such as DVD -R,DVD-RW,DVD +R,DVD +RW, DVD Dual Layer, recorded 3.15” camcorder discs, CDs, CD Rs, and CD RWs. I recommend the Sony BDP-S1700U it’s an entry level blu-ray player that will support DVD. I was going to buy one but it was not in stock, I needed a DVD player only for now so I have one and it works great for that purpose. It’s going to be a while before I make the switch to blu ray so I settled for it as I needed the HDMI interface for my new TV.
