No, I have not used it for streaming.
I found an older 4k movie (Star Trek) that did play for me.
I tried unplugging for 10 minutes, but same results.
I also tried using compressed air to blow out the inside of the player (several different times), as best I could through the disc tray, thinking the laser lens might have gotten dust on it.
I also reset the player.
All to no avail.

A:AnswerHow old is the HDMI cable that you are using to connect the Blu Ray Player to your TV? You need an HDMI cable that is rated for hi speed 4k signals, otherwise the player will default to a lower resolution. Also, are you running the signal through a receiver or directly into your TV? If you are using a receiver, then both the cable from the player to receiver and the one from the receiver to the TV need to be high speed. Also, your receiver itself has to be rated for 4k. Basically, every link in the chain from player to TV has to be rated for 4k.
One handy feature on this player is there is a way to check to see if the player is sending a 4k signal. While watching a 4k disc, press the 'display' button on the Sony player's remote. It will bring up a display that will show you both what resolution video (and audio) is coming from the disc and also what the player is sending to the TV. If it shows that a 4k signal is coming from the disc, but the player is only sending a 1080p signal to the TV, then either one of the connections mentioned above is the problem, or if you're all good there, it could be a setting on either the blu ray player or your TV. Check to make sure all the settings are correct on both devices (and your receiver if you are using one) Good luck!
A:AnswerThe only thing you can hook up to the USB would be a USB flash drive to play music or video that you have on the flash drive. The Roku would go right in your TV HDMI input. You can have audio from this 4K player go right to your soundbar or stereo system that has an HDMI in. But it is better to hook your audio from your TV out on the e-arc to a soundbar so you can be able to control the volume with the TV remote.
A:AnswerYes, by choosing pan & scan, the "letter box" black bars will not be present on screen, however, not everything can accommodate the pan & scan format. I have seen shows where BOTH characters are only framed with half the person talking is shown, and then it tracks to the other when responding. It looks like crap and can be out of sink.
A:AnswerNeither eARC or ARC. Not sure why you would need audio to return back to the source. If you're asking if the player can output uncompressed audio via HDMI, then the answer is yes. You will however need an HDMI cable that supports uncompressed audio. The best way to know if the cable supports this is to look for HDMI 2.1.
