Yes, it does include a database of POIs - but you have to be careful because sometimes the POI in the database doesn't exist anymore, or the address is slightly wrong! For example, it told us that a Chevron gas station was at an address - there was a gas station there (useful), but it was a Shell!! Not sure how often they update their POI database...
