“Can this gps be used for city to city driving across the USA? As well as street to street address? I ask because a lot of my trip planning involves using the interstate and us highway systems to travel. Once at a destination, street address help.”

Yes, you can perform a city center to city center without specific addresses or you can also do a specific street address. You can also go into the setting and tell it to avoid Interstates and toll roads if you want to just take the scenic back route. The TomTom is not as smart as the Garmin as to which side of the street is your destination, my Garmin would tell me "Your destination is on the Right", TomTom just tells me "You have arrived at your Destination".
