• Manual illustrations show the drive upright, and states ventilation slots cannot be blocked.

• To be sure better contact the manufacturer! It has venting holes to cool itself on the top and bottom of the unit. Not sure closing it up in a drawer is a good idea though...it needs to "breath" if you will. It is not that big so maybe you can keep it out of the drawer?
