Q: QuestionI don't need NAS, can this be used as a regular backup disk? Thanks.(4 answers)
A: AnswerYes, but it has an annoying habit of being noisy and wakes up every 20 minutes, beeps, spins up, and slows down your system while doing it. I have not been able to get it from entering sleep mode. Total space is 10.3 Gigs formatted to Windows specs. Also if it's 7200 RPM like the specs, it's a SLOW 7200 RPM. It does have a somewhat fast transfer speed for a mechanical drive. Do not use it for video though as I said its slow.Answered by ghostrider2k
- A: AnswerYes standard 3.5" HD specs. Never seen one that didn't. could be your case.

Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the IronWolf's ample storage, with many stating that the 12TB capacity is more than enough for their home NAS systems. They also appreciate the reasonable price point, especially as HDD prices continue to drop. The drives are generally fast, with some users reporting speeds of around 200mbps. However, a few customers have noted that the drives can be noisy, especially if not enclosed in a case.

Perfect Storage Solution With 2 Small Issues
This is an incredible storage solution for anyone looking to hold, transfer, store old projects or footage, client's work, whatever you need it for. 12TB is a TON of space to work with and you won't be needing anything else for a while. I use this HDD for storing all my client's footage and projects. There are only two issues I have with this drive: When transferring items it's kind of noisy, and can take a while if transferring a lot of data. Hence the 4 star rating. I had to transfer about 3 TBs of footage, (this is an old picture in the review) it took nearly 2 days. Realistically, this could be due to the dock, or other factors I'm not taking into account, but the point still stands, if you're going to dump a ton of files onto it make sure you have the free time to do it. Also, hope you don't mind all the clicking and beeping you will hear from it if it isn't in an enclosed case. Other than those complaints, I have no other issues with it. It's a lot of space, for a good price, and you get a lengthy warranty and file protection plan with it. Overall, very happy with my purchase, and will most likely buy another when this one fills up.

A good deal if you can get on sale
Received the drives as advertised. I managed to get them at $195 when they were on sale, price is back up to $230 now, so nice little discount. These are NAS-use specific hard drives, so they went in my new NAS, no problems. I chose the IronWolf series because they are supposedly more like an enterprise drive in terms of durability, configuration and I guess they are filled with helium gas to reduce friction if I read the right literature.

Good drive
Fast, not too loud, and no bad sectors. Last drive I bought from other brand had bad sectors within 2 weeks of use and corrupted most of my media files. I was worried about that happening, but no problems with this Seagate drive. In my experience, every Seagate drive has worked as advertised and no quality problems. Also fits good in NAS but does not fit in my pc case when I wanted to see if it could. This drive works very well for my media server. My only issue is with the price, I think that paying over $200 is far too much, so I would wait for a sale.
