Q: Do the burners detect the size of the pans? If I put a small pan on the large burner will it work?
A: Yes. I do this all the time. The flat bottom of my wok is smaller than the large burner and I use it there, works great.
Q: I am told that induction cooktops give off EMF (electromagnetic frequency) Radiation. Is this true?
A: Hi there, and thanks for reaching out to us about this induction cooktop. We understand your concern and are happy to assist. All appliances do generate an electromagnetic field, as this is created when electricity is in use. Regarding induction specifically, an electromagnetic current is used in the cooking process (that is why the cookware needs to be magnetic for induction). We do advise in the use and care manual that those with a pacemaker or similar medical device should exercise caution if standing near the unit while it's in operation, and may want to consult their doctor. That said, our induction ranges and cooktops meet IEEE C95.1- IEEE Standard for Safety Levels with Respect to Human Exposure to Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Fields, 3 kHz to 300 GHz – General exposure safety guidelines as well as FCC part –18, FCC standards for emitted electromagnetic fields. Because we adhere to those strict public standards, we are confident that the induction cooktop can be used safely by most people. We hope this information is helpful, and are happy to assist with any other questions or concerns. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA

A: Hey there, and thanks for reaching out to us about this induction cooktop. We certainly understand your concern over the possible noises the cooktop makes, and are glad to advise. Sounds may be made during the cooking process, including whistling and humming, especially when two adjacent heating elements are in use - the magnetic fields can interact with each other to make this noise. The size and weight of the cookware and the amount of contents will also affect the sounds and their volume. Other sounds, like buzzing and clicking, can be heard in some cases; regarding clicking, if you're hearing that the cookware you're using may be smaller than recommended for the burner. Further details on the sounds the unit produces are available on page 11 of the manual. Beeping is not one of the sounds we expect to hear from this model. If you have any other questions or concerns, we're always happy to help. All the best! -Sarah@GEA
A: Hello and thanks so much for the interest in this cooktop. We're happy to help with the required cutout space. We do have a filler kit that will help get you closer to the space needed for this cooktop. Kit JXTR32B can be used for spaces up to 29-13/16" x 20-7/16". Any gap larger than this may need modified to hold the unit. We hope this helps. Keep in touch! - John@GEA
A: Hi Bygator - Thanks for choosing GE Profile™! This unit operates on a 208V or 240V- 40 Amp circuit (KW Rating at 208V= 6.4; KW Rating at 240V= 7.4). We suggest to check the specifications for your current cooktop as some operate on 30 Amps. Check out the Installation Instructions for complete details (Page 2): https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-2000021-2.pdf - Enjoy! Sue
A: Hi — Busybee13- Welcome to the GE Appliances Family! Thanks for choosing Model PHP9030DJBB. Humming sound while cooking or boiling is normal. Slight sounds, like hums or buzzes may be produced by different types of cookware. Heavier pans, such as enameled cast iron produce less noise than a lighter weight multi-ply stainless steel pan. The size of the pan and the amount of contents can also contribute to the sound level. When using adjacent elements that are set at certain power level settings, pan noise may interact and produce a low whistle or intermittent "hum". These noises can be reduced or eliminated by lowering or raising the power level settings of one or both of the elements. Pans that completely cover the element ring will produce less noise. Also, see page 11 of the Owner's Manual- "Cooking/Cookware Noise": http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-80742.pdf - Choosing The Correct Cookware To Use- See pages 12-13. Thanks for reaching out to us. Enjoy! SUE@GEA
