Acer - One 10 - 10.1" - Intel Atom - 32GB
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on impulse as was a deal of the day from Best Buy. Didn't need it but too good not to get. The clincher was that you could split it so also works as a 10" table and was a touch screen and Acer is a great make. Even though the screen res is only 1280x800 it does look more like 1368 or more. The base section (keyboard) has a USB input (which is the only input on the keyboard base unit) and as I love using a full size keyboard I plugged in a dongle for a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have tested Microsoft and Logitech mouse/KB combos with no problems. Picture is of the unit and bottom right is the USB dongle and the picture is a 4k Red Clouds nature picture. Tablet – the other section has all the other inputs: (5) 1 Power input 2 Micro USB ** 3 Micro SD card slot - I have tested 32/64/128 GB cards with no problems. I will try a 256GB when they go on sale. It can be used to expand the basic built in 32GB drive 4 Micro HDMI out – I am buying a connector next week and will advise if it doesn’t work but I am very confident I’ll have no problems 5 3.5mm Audio out ** the other picture is to show you can plug a micro USB to full USB connector in and use it either for a wireless keyboard and mouse Dongle or input for external USB flash drive in this picture I’ve connected a PNY 256GB flash drive which works fine as you can see. I’ve not done a full test to drain the battery dead but so far looks like a minimum 4 hour run time. I did run it 2 hours today playing a radio show from the internet and was still at 75% full. A bonus was it has Bluetooth built in which works great with all my USB speakers. Built in WI-FI works fine too. Quad core processor obviously not an I7 but I really cannot complain with the speed at all. All in all 10/10 but I can only give it 5 *****

Very
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good little laptop. The only reason I exchanged it was the 32 gb hard drive wasn't big enough because one of my programs will only store on the C: drive, so I couldn't save or transfer to my 128 gb memory card. Had I been able to do that, I would have happily kept it.

Grandkids loved the tablet

Great machine for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will be writing this review from a gamer/power user’s point of view (heavy workloads on desktop PC). As Bestbuy seems to be the only place selling this 2in1, I will attempt to list things that were difficult to find in other reviews. Currently using this for work and light gaming. Battery: Turned on PC and it had 80% charge with an estimated 6 hours left. Fully charged it and installed a BatteryBar toolbar to find the estimated battery life to hover around 7-12 hours (depending on what I was doing). Unexpectedly good. The battery itself seems to be only located in the tablet itself and not in keyboard as values don’t change when plugged in. System, by default, goes into sleep mode when lid is closed. Haven’t had this long enough to test how this fares with battery life but if it is an issue, you can always change it so the system goes into hibernation instead to have a 5-10 second start-up time instead of instantaneous. Battery takes a while to charge. Estimated numbers were around 3-4 hours to fully charge at 50%. Software: System came preinstalled with several pieces of Acer software but was not hard to uninstall. As this is a standard Win10 machine, I was able to install any program that I would on a normal desktop without a hitch. Keyboard: The keyboard layout is fantastic. Was able to plug it in and use it like any other keyboard with little error. Could use some improvement in some button arrangements but overall a good layout. The buttons are membrane but aren’t mushy. I would compare it to the Apple chiclet keyboards. The keyboard itself is very light. This keyboard/tablet setup was meant to be used in a sitting position as the screen doesn’t tilt that far back. Keyboard is barely heavy enough to keep the laptop upright when in use. If no pressure is put on the keyboard, any slight touch on the screen will push the laptop off balance. Using this as a literal “lap” top is impossible as the laptop is constantly falling over on its back. Display: An 800p IPS display. Screen is really bright at 100%. I was hoping for the lowest setting to be even dimmer but it’s bearable. Colors are very vibrant and didn’t notice anything off. There is some light bleed on the edge of the screen but it is only noticeable in a dark room when the screen is black. Touch controls are on point. Tap to click, hold down to right click, and drag to drag. There are some cases where the OS or program doesn’t register the tap even though the indicator is right on the object. This is mostly a software issue, however, since the indicator shows I am pressing it. Performance: For an Atom CPU and 2GB of RAM, you shouldn’t expect much. Performance begins to dip when multi-tasking. Just from having several tabs in Chrome and Office open, 70% of memory and 20-30% of CPU power was is in use. While this system is still able to run 3D applications, it is limited to very basic renders. As memory is limited on this system, with 11GB free after system updates/program installs, you wouldn’t be able to install many games either way. Noticeable FPS drops can be seen when playing a flash-based ship collection game. Some puzzle games I installed through Steam ran perfectly fine. Steam in-home streaming also worked flawlessly after a few tweaks and ran Dota2 with near 1:1 play. Modern visual novels/books also ran fine but dipped in heavy 3D scenes. Using the klite codec pack for media consumption, the system can take them all. 1080p TS files. 1080p MKV files with stylized subtitles. Can’t, however, handle 1080p Twitch streams. 720p30 ones are somewhat fine. Other streaming services such as Netflix should work fine as the system can somewhat handle 1080p YouTube content. Yes, this is only an 800p screen but the system was still able to handle higher quality content without problems. Random notes: System has a micro SD card slot that can handle up to 64GB according to another review. Not sure if it can support higher. Keyboard dock has one full sized USB 2.0 port on the right side. Nothing on the left. All the I/O on the tablet is located on the left. 3.5mm headphone jack on the upper-most part. Mini HDMI. Micro USB which you CAN charge with (through a wall charger. Not a PC). DC port for charging (bit flimsy, would prefer to use the micro usb to charge). The microSD card slot is also located here. Power/Volume buttons are on the top of the tablet. System itself is sturdy and does not flex without putting great force into it. Not sure what kind of glass this screen has since it has greater friction than my phone. It is still glass, though, so no flex. Would be difficult to find a glass screen protector for this. Speakers are on the back of this device towards the bottom. The back is plastic but has an aluminum look and feel. Touch pad isn’t spectacular. A little bit heavy but more bearable when keyboard dock is not attached. Has a wireless N chip and was able to cap out my net speeds at 50Mbps. Has Bluetooth also. Rotation/gyro seems to be on point. Has front facing and rear cameras. Haven't tested them. Not expecting much from them. Microphone is also subpar but coherent enough to make out words. Bought this on Black Friday for $130~ and is definitely a 5 star device for the price. At the stock $200, it becomes harder to recommend and would probably be a 3-4 star as you can get a much faster device by paying a bit more. Overall, it is a good device for work and can also run media perfectly fine. Battery life is exceptional and can run low 3D applications just fine as well. Hopefully I covered what was missing in other reviews.

An excellent 2-in-1 tablet for basic computing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 Windows 10 laptops, but not a Win-10 tablet. I have also owned many Android tablets and phones. This is my first Windows 10 tablet, placing an 8 inch ASUS tablet that had a cracked screen. Firstly, the Win10 operating system is a substantial improvement over anything that Android or Apple have currently now. Once the apps, and tiles are set up in the start menu, the switch between "tablet" and "windows" mode is easily accomplished with a button press in the action center. Another thing I like, is the fact that since this is Windows, using the internet using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is seamless. Flash heavy websites that kids like, such as Animal Jam work well on this platform, with some occasional stutters, but is mostly manageable. The only downside is that the app library is not as big as Android or iOS. I installed Bluestacks on the device and was able to download a movie and successfully play a movie from my Google account with little lag. I also tried TurboFly, and the game worked reasonably well. The Shopkins app did not work well, showing significant "black squares" as the hardware seemed to get bogged down rendering the app. The display is a good size for a tablet. The keyboard has nice feel. The attachment of the screen to the keyboard works well in both face down and face up configurations. The overall weight is a bit heavy feeling, but not uncomfortably so. The Atom processor works fine for basic tasks, but it gets slow if too many windows or activities are going at the same time. Another is that the memory on-board is only 32GB, which can be quickly used up with programs and data. If the intent is to use this machine for heavy gaming or such, move along to another product. Any document storage should be done on Onedrive, etc. A defect in the design is that when the tablet is in the laptop configuration sitting on my lap, the top-heavy screen tends to cause it to fall on the back of the screen. Care would need to be taken to assure that it won't tip over. Due to the processor, memory, and tip over potential, I took a star off in my rating. However, this is a good basic computer that would be great on the road and used as a tablet. I would recommend this new configuration over any Android or Apple product.

better than what I expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return a black Friday special windows tablet due to button failure. The best buy customer service rep was very nice and helped me out without any problems. I exchanged the item for the acer tablet which was less expensive but had slightly better specifications. I have had the new acer for a few weeks now and cannot find anything to complain about. It was preloaded with windows 10, and has worked flawlessly since start up. I am very impressed with the battery run time. It is good for 8 hours where the other one was only active for 5. Looks and feels better quality and if it lasts as long as my acer netbook I have had for many years, I will be extremely pleased.

Excellent Buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First offf I want to say the price is a steal. I did my research and this is far and away the best bang for the buck on a small budget laptop. Yes, the keyboard is cramped and the base is very plasticy, but it's stable and tablet portion locks in very securely. I can touch type on it with no problem, except for the very odd placemtn of the control key. I regularly carry it by the keyboard and have even held it upside down by the base. It's a little top heavy because of the lighter base, but it's not too bad, and it's significantly better than most of the other convertables that I've tried. I'm thinking a couple of metal weights glued to the bottom may make it tip-free. Battery seems fairly long lasting (I make it through moderate usage in a day without needing to charge). Pro tip though, while it has a specialized AC adapter, it WILL charge throught the microUSB slot like most tablets. Screen is bright with decent angles and the touch is good. No complaints there. The speakers are rear facing (boo!) but fairly loud (yay!). It has a fair amount of bloatware that I recommend removing immediately, and once I did, it was super speedy. I also immediately removed the mobile versions of office and installed office 2016 (I have a 365 sub). So far it's been awesome. I do spreadsheets and document creation on it. Hulu, Showtime, Netflix, Youtube all run great. I've even loaded Steam on it and have played through a few Point-n-click adventures and strategy games. Despite a handful of shortcomings,it's an excellent buy at this price.

Great little 2-in-1
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this as a Black Friday deal, and it is just what I wanted. It boots up fast, and customizing settings is pretty easy. It takes 4 to 4.5 hours to fully charge and I get about 5-6 hours out of it. I got it mostly to stream games from my XB1, so 5-6 hrs while powering a controller is pretty good. You will notice a considerable power drain even if it's off if you leave the keyboard plugged in. The keyboard can be plugged-in tent style (the keyboard doesn't function this way so it doesn't drain the battery). The Office mobile apps that come with it will work for most people; the excel app is pretty functional but don't expect to do much graphing with it. The only complaints I really have with it are sometimes the keypad to unlock the tablet won't appear, so I have to restart it until it does. Also the Microsoft store will auto download apps, so I had to lookup a regedit to disable that. These are more issues with Windows 10 than the tablet though. The wifi, especially when streaming games, can be pretty bad but I'm in an apartment complex with 7 other units, so it's likely interference. I changed the channel on my router and that seemed to help.

Q: QuestionHow is the battery life?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Battery life depends on how much juice you're using. If you keep the display at 50% brightness, and use just the word processor, you will have at least 4 hours or battery life. If you are running it at 100% brightness, and are multi-tasking while watching videos, you can expect 2.5--3 hours. If you're going to use this away from a power source, consider dimming the display, and minimizing the number of tasks you're performing.

Q: QuestionCannot Detect Networking HardwareI am on the second of these pieces of junk I've gotten from Best Buy. The first one worked a day before it could no longer detect network adapter. This new one lasted about a week. Am I just having bad luck or is there a fundamental problem with this product? Acer tech support hasn't been able to fix it, and I'm weary about exchanging it for a third time. Has anyone sent a defective unit to Acer and gotten it back without the problem eventually coming back?
Asked by BP.
- A:Answer I was confused by that message as well. I ended up going into settings (where, at that point, there was no 'wifi' option), clicked VPN, clicked something or other (there's only so many options in there), and discovered that I had mistakenly (while clicking on my wifi stuff) disabled my wifi. I enabled it and never had a problem again. When the wifi drops or doesn't connect and you start to mess with the notification icon in the taskbar, it is very easy to disable the wifi. You just have to find it in VPN settings and re-enable it.
