A: Hello, In order to have the unit drain properly, the hose must be directed somewhere that is below the unit as draining and directing the hose to somewhere above the unit may create a siphoning effect and the water will travel back down into the unit.
Q: Can you wash the filter, or do you have to buy new ones?
A: Thank you for your inquiry EC,the maintenance of your appliance is very important. The filter in model FAD301NWD does not need to be replaced but does need to be removed every two weeks based on normal operating conditions. It then must be washed and cleaned with water and dried before being placed back into the bucket. Q: does the fan run all the time
A: I have 10 of these units , that I have purchased in the past, occasionally a fan motor will burn out , because after all these units run 24 hours a day, I have used units from Sears , however, I like the units put out by Best Buy better, they are much quieter in operation, the bucket that collects the water , I will admit that this is the weak spot on any of the fridgersire units, they are hard to empty and very difficult to hold on too, this is a weak spot, I would hope that the manufacturer could some day improve on, other than this, I just ordered 4 more of these fridge aire products and as far as the question involving the fan and when the compressor cut off, the answer is, yes, your fan will cut off also, you will not go wrong buying a fridgeraire unit from Best Buy, I have 14 of these units as of now, I have several rental houses and they are very efficient untis, and work as well as any units on the market , their warrenty plan is the best I have seen, I have yet to have to use it , but compared to other models I luv their warrenty plan....I hope this will help some of you who are buying a dehumidifier for the first time, I think you will be happy when you get your unit.....NC is a very humid area and in the summer time, I like dry air to live in and in moist areas of my home....Along the coast of NC, I can't do without a dehumidifier....
Q: How much does this unit weigh? And does this come with a hose to drain automatically?
A: This item is approximately 10-13lbs I believe that is what I remember reading on the shipping label. It does NOT come with a drainage hose but we have ours hooked up to a standard garden hose and having it draining directly into a floor drain in our basement.
