Hisense - 65" Class H8G Quantum Series LED 4K UHD Smart Android TV

I've had the 65" H8G for about a week now and am happy with it for the $700 price I got it at. This is a secondary TV for me and put in our loft, so I wasn't concerned about having an expensive TV by one of the industry leaders (LG, Samsung, Sony). My goal was to get the most out of my $700 budget that I could. The picture quality is good, not great. I'm used to viewing a 65" LG OLED65C8PUA in our family room, so I know how good a TV can look. The Hisense 65H8G uses a 60Hz refresh rate and it's definitely noticeable vs. 120Hz. Motion is blurred and there is ghosting. There is an option to turn motion clearness (motion rate) on, but the image becomes too dark and useless with it turned on. Don't rely on the marketing claim of 240 motion rate, this is a 60Hz panel and the 240 motion rate is too dark to use. The blacks cannot get too dark before they start getting crushed and losing fine details, so they are more grey than black. It'll be up to you how you want to adjust your settings. Personally, I opted to lower the backlight and darkness settings to create richer blacks while sacrificing some image detail. I can't stand having grey blacks. The colors on this TV are very good and allow for a natural image. You can also crank them up for a more saturated and punchy look if you want. The good news is that there are a plethora of picture settings to adjust to find a balance you're happy with. There are 4 HDMI 2.0 ports (including an ARC input), one A/V input (red, white, yellow), two USB ports, a cable antenna connection for an external OTA antenna, and an optical audio connection. As with all TVs these days, the speakers aren't great. I give them credit for the volume they can get to, though. But a minimum of a soundbar is required if you want to get more out of the audio department. The H8G uses an Android operating system and it's easy to use. Tons of apps are available through Google Play. The remote has basic build quality with a black plastic casing. It does allow for voice recognition and Alexa connectivity, though I haven't tried either. There are also four app buttons at the bottom for quick navigation to Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, and Vudu. That makes for great convenience. In the end, I wanted an affordable 4K TV with Dolby Vision and a "good enough" picture at 65" and that's what I got. Don't be mislead by other reviews claiming it to be a GORGEOUS picture or one that rivals TVs that are $2000+. It's not a gorgeous picture and it doesn't rival the more expensive screens. But, it is a good value for a 65" TV with everything included within it. If you're looking for a large 4K screen with good value without unrealistic expectations, I can safely recommend the Hisense 65H8G. If you're a stickler for motion blur, though, perhaps wait until the Hisense H9G is released since that will have a 120Hz panel.

I now have owned this TV for 3 months and Is 100% the best TV I have ever had, I am not an expert other than a consumer that loved TV's since I was a kid, The Color is just Spectacular, Even the Sound is respectable When your watching the news, HGTV or Bravo it's just fine, Plenty of HDMI inputs I even hooked up the old VCR and the pic looks great on it, I have been a Big Roku fan but the Android system does the job , Google assistant is Cool, I am thinking what could be wrong, Honestly nothing, Simply I like watching TV on my new Hisense H8G It's a Awesome TV

Wow you get the best bang for your buck. If you can find one buy it ASAP. Comes with android built in, pretty much any streaming service can be downloaded and works really good. The OS is really nice and you can customize your app list, play next and Setup was fairly easy if you own an android device or just the remote control log in to Google's services. I put in my gmail account and most of my passwords for the other apps I had was transferred over. Chromecast is built in so whatever you're looking at on your phone can be mirrored to the TV. To start off the TV needs to be calibrated to your liking for you to enjoy it at 100% I turned off most processing features off like motion enhancement, noise reduction and etc. Play with those settings to get whatever you're seeing to look like how you want it to. Go online and search how to calibrate hisense tv. Play around with what other people recommend to adjust. So here we go! Movie and TV show lovers out there will enjoy the Dolby vision that will automatically enhance not just how it looks but how it sounds. So if you're using any streaming services keep your eyes peeled when you see that what your watching offers it with DOLBY VISION just this feature alone really makes this tv and at this price stand out from the other brands who offer this feature for 3x the money. I was watching that tiger guy show which had the dobly vision logo and improved the image from how I had the tv calibrated. I Also checked out marvel movies from disney plus and just WOW There was a very noticeable difference. It simply looked even better. If you have the google speaker you can pretty much control the tv with that if you can't find the remote lol just setup your google assistant app to pair with the TV. It was very easy. You can also turn on alexa to use the Amazon echo speaker. The remote control has a mic as well, just hold the button and talk. Now gaming on this TV this was my concern and where it will get a bit complicated I used the nintendo switch and looks and runs good just make sure you're on game mode in the picture settings . Also the TV did recognize the nintendo switch in the hdmi input. So was my playstation and named it just in case you forget which one was plugged on which port 1-4 hdmi. So for playstation I had to really calibrate the TV and turn on HDR to get the games to look amazing. So to activate hdr game mode you need to go into settings and select hdmi 2.0 format and change that to enhanced format, and in picture mode select game mode. Then you go and calibrate your tv colors if needed . Then I had to adjust in game video settings change brightness and the other HDR settings . Once you do that the games will run and look great on 4k hdr. Now sound quality is pretty decent turn on dolby atmos and dolby digital plus to get the best sound possible. I can confirm that the tv speakers are loud and clear. I'm on single digits mostly even with some noise from my loud neighbors lol. For a quantum dot TV with full array dimming no one else will give you all these features at this price range.

The Hisense - 65" - H8G Quantum Series - 4K UHD TV - Smart - LED - with HDR is a move into the premium space for this company. This TV comes with 65 inches of 4kUHD goodness! The Android TV is great and appears to be the same interface as my Nvidia Shield. Setup is a breeze, the easiest I have ever experienced. The TV will prompt you to scan a QR code and it will copy all your google account and Wifi settings. The TV will prompt you to do a firmware update, this happens while the Android set up is taking place. If you proceed with the update do not unplug or touch anything while it is updating until it reboots. Once the Tv reboots you can for OTA channels or CATV/Satellite channels if you wish. After the system is set up and you have authorized your streaming channels you can get down to watching some awesome TV or Movies. This TV has great color reproduction and clarity. I saw no edge glow or bright spots. The blacks are really good even compared to my LG OLED. The upscaling from lower resolution is also very good. I was able to stream Netflix and Amazon at Dolby VisionHDR. The AI built into the TV seems to do a really good job at adjusting the TV based on content. I was surprised at how bright the picture appeared as I expected it to be a little dim based on the 700nit spec but somehow Hisense has made this work. The sound on this TV is really good, It includes Dolby Atmos! The sound for built in speakers is surprisingly good and not the norm these days. Although you could get better sound with a surround or Dolby Atmos soundbar system you might not need one if you are not looking for the top of the line or short on cash. The speed of the android interface is very good, just slightly slower than my Shield TV. The Play store works and many streaming apps are available. One streaming app not yet available is ATT TV, you can authorize many of the other streaming apps using ATT as the provider though. The remote is Ok, functional and the buttons are a little awkward but once you get used to it it works fine. The remote also includes voice operation via google assistant. As far as I am concerned Hisense has pulled off a technological miracle with the quality of the build, the magnificent performance of the panel with Dolby vision HDR and an Android TV 9.0 and Dolby Atmos sound. You get the best of streaming and a built in Tuner for digital channels and OTA. Packing all these features in at a great price. If you have been holding off for an upgrade because of the high priced alternatives for 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos this is the TV you have been waiting for!

The first thing I have to say is how this set exceeded my expectations. I was initially very impressed and that feeling continues every time I watch something on it. The price tag is very deceiving and I originally thought that I would be very disappointed with it. Not so at all. I'm used to spending a considerable amount on AV equipment and own several really nice systems, so I do have quality components to compare it with. The first thing I noticed was the very small bezel. It's not invisible, and depth wise, it's not the slimmest but it's small enough that it doesn't jump out at you and scream “here I am”. It was easy to mount on the wall by reusing my previous TV's mounting bracket. Not a huge amount of weight either, but you'll want an extra pair of hands to help mount it because of it's size. The connection jacks are adequate. It has four HDMI inputs with one of them being an ARC channel. It also has a composite video input, and RF jack, an Ethernet port and a headphone jack along with two USB ports. It does NOT have any component video inputs, which was no problem, but bears mentioning for anyone looking for that. For wireless connectivity there's WiFi and Bluetooth. The remote control is set up nicely and is slim and easy to hold. There are dedicated buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Google Play and Vudu. All of the buttons feel real good, not cheap. They're labeled intuitively and it's really easy to find the input, setting and home buttons. One of the best parts is that it has a built in mic that allows you to control or find your favorite shows or services with your voice command. It works really well through the built in Google Assistant app. My only complaint about the remote is that I wish it was illuminated but you can find what you need easily enough without that feature. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it also has Chromecast for anyone interested in casting video from their phones. Now, the most important part. What is the picture like? Well I can say it's pretty darn good. Real good in fact. I was impressed by the rich colors. I've watched a lot of different cable and streaming shows on this set and all of them look very impressive. 4K content really pops with exceptional clarity and vibrant colors. Black levels are very good and a lot more pure black that I expected. Dolby Vision HDR is also present and I noticed that it will pop up a DolbyVision notification when it goes into this mode. Disney+ has some of this content, and it looks pretty amazing. I heard the speakers for a short time before I had my receiver set up correctly. They sound... adequate. Loud enough, but not tinny or distorted. With an Android TV you have a huge number of apps to choose from to download. Netflix, Vudu and Amazon Prime are what I usually watch and they perform and look fantastic. Since I have a Google account, it was a piece of cake to set up all the details without having to type in all your information. It used my Google account and paired with my phone to set up my Google account information and even found all my WiFi info so that I didn't have to enter in anything manually. Anyone looking for a good size TV (and this is definitely a good size), but also needs to pay attention to cost (like I do), will totally appreciate the Hisense brand. This is the first one I've owned, and any reservations I've had in the past about this brand have been put to bed with this set. Really worth checking out.

The Hisense 65H8G is awesome! This TV is such a great value. It has many bells and whistles like Quantum Dot Color, Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos sound, and Motion Rate 240. I was blown away by the picture. My favorite thing about it is the full array local dimming. I don’t like TV’s with edge lighting because they tend to have bright spots where there shouldn’t be. This television does not have that problem. It has up to 90 zones of contrast that make sure the picture is smooth and vivid with amazing color and clarity. The brightness is adequate. I think the brightness is the main thing that Hisense cut back on in order to make this TV more affordable. It is not the brightest ULED TV out there but it is plenty bright. I was also impressed by the factory picture modes (i.e. gaming, movie, eco, vivid, sports, standard). I did not have to make any adjustments to the preset values to find the perfect look for every application. I love the look of movies on movie mode. I streamed Captain Marvel from Disney+ (one of their Ultra HD and HDR offerings) and it looked better than I’ve ever seen it at home. I watched a 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray movie from my Blu Ray player and it looked fantastic as well. Excellent contrast in dark scenes and no motion blur in fast scenes. I was also pleasantly surprised that the Hisense remote control was able to control my Blu Ray player without any setup. Gaming is bright and crisp using the preset gaming mode. I haven’t watched any live sports yet, but hopefully they will look as great as the other modes do. 65” seems to be the sweet spot for Hisense TV’s. It’s the biggest you can get before major price jumps, and for me, the size is perfect for my big family room. The Dolby Atmos sound on the TV is loud on its own, although my TV is now hooked up to my surround system so I don't use the TV sound anymore. Hisense uses the Android TV menu, so if you’re familiar with it from another device, you don’t need to learn how to navigate a whole new system. There are plenty of apps to choose from, although I wasn’t able to find a Spectrum app for my Spectrum streaming subscription. Also, the menu is a bit sluggish from time to time, meaning things might take a second to load. Overall this is an excellent TV and has the best picture of any TV I’ve ever owned. I’m thrilled with it and I would recommend it to others.

I expected a lot from Hisense when I was given the opportunity to review this flat screen, and my expectations were fully realized with this 65- inch 4K Quantum model, new for 2020. I’ve never owned a Hisense product, but have heard a great deal about their reputation for value. Even if price is no object, you ought to seriously consider this model. It succeeds as a value product, but I contend that is can withstand comparison to much more expensive 4K offerings and more than hold its own. My eyes have run the gamut of the various panel offerings, and this one has kept me seated and enjoying its 4K performance on every level. The frame of the Hisense is black, narrow and simple. I very much like that look. I had intended to hang this model on my living room wall to replace my existing flat screen, which I would move to another room. My plans have been temporarily thwarted because the placement of the top mounting screws on the Hisense would require me to move my existing bracket about a foot lower to accommodate three wall mounted speakers. I have not had the time to do that yet, and this is an obscure point, but my previous flat screens have had the top screws for the wall mount much nearer the top of the set. I am not criticizing the Hisense placement as it is logical for this design but be aware of this if you intend to wall mount the set. I had temporarily evaluated the set with its legs attached. I was able to move it upstairs and use another in-place wall bracket to hang it. I must say that this model is a black beauty on the wall and compliments the room nicely. Since my hanging helper had other things to do around the house, I initially had to do without any cabling other than the power cord. My enjoyment was not at all deterred. I pushed the power button which demonstrated one of the major assets of this set: it’s a pure Android set, and by pure, I mean that it’s homepage is the Google Android TV homepage, not some manufacturer’s homepage with only its own supplied native apps. Want to add additional apps? Any Android TV app available is yours if you can find it in the Google Store. I was already using an nVidia Shield streaming device, so when I set up the Hisense, and logged in to my Google account, most of the apps I use regularly were already downloaded and ready. Virtually everything I wanted was there. The only exception that comes to mind is the Apple TV app. You might need a dongle from Apple, Amazon or Roku to bring that channel in. I watched Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ shows in 4KHDR with no cables feeding anything to the TV other than the electricity to power it. My connection to the internet was via Wi-Fi only. The picture and performance were fantastic. The colors were true and sharp, and the blacks were black. Viewing from the side reduced picture quality some, but not much. There is a plethora of in set adjustments that you can make to fine tune the picture to your tastes. I was well-pleased with the standard color temperature setting. Several other pre-set modes are offered. Again, the 4K offerings, in full resolution with HDR enhancement are stunning. For non 4K viewing, I use HD Homerun network tuners for both over the air and cable channels, some of which are DRM protected. All I had to do to access them was to install the HD Homerun app from the store, and both that app, as well as the wonderful Live Channels app displayed all my channels perfectly. The number pad on the Hisense remote allows direct entry tuning as well! That was a pleasant and welcome surprise. I also compared the Hisense onboard tuner to the HD Homerun for the local over the air channels. The Hisense tuner was actually a little more sensitive, pulling in a low power Spanish station I had never been able to previously receive. I later added an Ethernet cable and connected the Hisense to my receiver via an optical digital cable. The speakers on the set are fine, but they are no match for a powerful receiver with outboard speakers and a sub-woofer. The only negative that comes to mind with this set is its rather sparse instructions. A quick set up guide was the only instructional leaflet in my box. I looked for a more extensive manual on the Hisense website and did not immediately find one. I’m a tweaker and have not come close to exhausting the extensive adjustments available on this set’s menu system. I challenge you to find any 4K HDR set, LED or OLED, that will cause you to part with a cent more than the reasonable price of this Hisense beauty. Some of the others may have specific performance features that better the Hisense in some regard, but I can’t imagine any other set blowing this one out of the water for overall viewing pleasure. I’m in 4K heaven right now. Leave me be for a while.

Almost 2 years and the screen is falling off bought it put on wall never been moved and the darn screw is falling off this tv is crap in my book
