Provide smart illumination for your space with this Philips Hue white light bulb. The equivalent to a 60W standard bulb, this advanced bulb can be used as a regular LED light or to enhance your enjoyment with the Philips Hue app. This Philips Hue white light bulb is compatible with Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant.
Q: Do these bulbs work with home wifi network?
A: You will need a Philips Hub in order to control them with your phone. Otherwise, they will just work like normal light bulbs (i.e. they will turn on and off when you flip the switch). They act like repeaters so the more you have, the better the range will be.
Q: can I dim these lights using amazon echo with alexa voice control?
A: Yes, you can say "Alexa living room dim" or "Alexa living room bright" (you choose the name of your rooms, set up was easy) it will turn light up or down only one notch. Or you can use a scale of 1 to 10 to change light from darkest to lightest.
Q: Do they also turn on and off with regular, already installed light switches?
A: Yes - they will turn on and off with the regular switch. However, when the light switch is off, the light bulb connected to the switch won't respond to remote commands from your phone or Alexa. Turning the switch on allows you to control the light remotely. Hope that helps!
Q: are theses bulbs good for outside use
A: I don’t use any of my hue bulbs outside but with the electronics in the bulbs, I would think that moisture would get into them and ruin the bulbs. They aren’t sealed from the elements.
A: You still need the bridge to connect to the Echo Dot or the Google home.
A: Yes you need a hub. That allows you to use the hue app, connect with Amazon’s Alexa, etc. For it to be anything more than a bulb you need a hub. That way you can isolate the specific light and control it.
Q: Does the bridge have to be hooked to erthnet or will it work wireless internet
A: The Hue hub requires an Ethernet connection. But you could always use a wireless bridge and connect the Hue hub to that.
A: We bought the insurance with the Hue bulbs but we haven't had to use the insurance, but from what I understand they will replace the bulb for free no question asked. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
