Q: QuestionDoes the Geek Squad protection plan begin after the manufacturers warranty period? Or are they running concurrent? Because I have a problem with my TV and Geek Squad told me to call manufacturer by Geek Squad staff.

• A:Answer It depends. If your kids an idiot and he knocked over your TV. Then the answer is NO. If the TV is defective and overheating caused the crack or the bezel is manufactured incorrectly and squeezing your screen causing a stress fracture. Then the answer is yes. They offer geek squad protection with accidental handling but I believe that is only for mobile devices. That would cover physical damage and crack screens. But that is probably just for things like phones tablets and other portable electronics. In the end your best bet is to talk to a knowledgeable BB employee before you purchase your new TV.

Q: QuestionThe Samsung QN55Q60RAFX remote will not stay paired. Every day I have to pair it up again. Changed battery-no help. Have the 5YR 900-999 TV GSP. Can this be fixed? I wouldn't mind trading it in as the sound has never really been satisfactory.

Q: QuestionWhy is geek squad forcing their way into my home for large tv fixes. I gladly brought my TV in for service today and best buy refused to provide any service and said I need to schedule an at home visit. I do not want geek squad in my home.

• A:Answer Because they will only provide tech support for computers. Anything else you have to pay for a home visit, even if it's under warranty (found that out hours after taking delivery of a brand-new TV only 2 hours previously)

• A:Answer That would depend on the size of your tv and what may be wrong with it. For example. If it is a cracked screen. You can take it in and if you are still in the 30 day window. You might be able to exchange it. If it has lines on it going up and down or side to side and they appeared out of nowhere. I’d call their tech support and go off the directions that they give you. You may be charged a fee unless you got an extended warranty or have a tech support program that they offer.

Q: QuestionI purchased an LG OLED 55” HDTV with a five year Geek Squad protection plan. TV bought 11/2019. Home was struck by lightning and a ground power surge resulted. All HDMI ports are dead. Does the protection plan cover lightning strikes as in this case.
