The lite version is not compatible with the ecobee3 standard sensors. Instead, I recommend linking it to SmartThings hub and using other sensors.

I don't believe so. Thats the main difference between the lite and standard unit.

No, sensors can only be added to ecobee3 not the ecobee3 lite.

I dont believe you can the other model would be the one you would have had to purchased overall im very satisfied with this one without the sensor i believe if u use the sensors its probably best used if you have 2 ac units otherwise i think it would be a waist of money to purchase no real need for sensors unless u have 1 unit maintaining up stairs and another 1 maintaining downstairs
