  • QuestionI just got the A80J 55inch. The description says it has a 3way stand. When I got home and set the TV up, I'd notice I can only put the feet in one position. Am I doing something incorrect?

    Asked by Blackdragon79.

    • Answer Hi EHB79, Great News! Yes, the XR55A80J has 3-way multi-position stand that gives you the choice of a standard setting that focuses you on the picture, narrow setting for smaller shelves and soundbar setting for ideal positioning of your sound system. Please check the information from the link below that provides help with changing the height and position of the table-top stand after the initial setup: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-oled-tvs-android-/xr-55a80j/articles/00257673 I hope this helps! • QuestionBought this Sony A80.Had it 4 days then blinking red light Did everything that they said .They are bringing me a new one. Is this common problem. From reading different things I see this a problem.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Apparently, this has been an issue with the Bravia smart TVs since about 2015. Our 3 year old 55" A8F just bricked itself a few weeks ago and was going to cost $1000 to repair so we took it to e-waste and bought the A80J for $1699 WITH the Sony Protection Plus plan for another $200 for 2 years of added protection like screen breakage, power surges, etc. Never bought extended warranty type coverages for a TV before (never had to), but since this is such a big problem with Bravias we decided to get it this time. I think you can still buy it as long as it's still under the original warranty, but since they're already replacing your TV I'm not sure if you're still eligible. You should contact Sony directly and ask, but I'd recommend buying it if you can specifically for this issue. There was a page on Sony's customer blog where some TVs less than 2 years old were bricked after the Android OS had to be restarted for a glitch. Ours did it in 3, the TV wouldn't even turn on/flash even after all the troubleshooting with Sony tech support and we were out of warranty.

  • QuestionI have the a80j 65in and am wanting to connect to the atsc 3.0 next gen tv since it’s available in my area (Portland or) but it’s not receiving 4K. I have contacted Sony but didn’t get a clear answer. What’s going on?

    Asked by Joelm.

    • Answer Hi Joelm, Thank you for choosing and purchasing our BRAVIA XR A80J OLED TV. NextGen TV™ (ATSC 3.0) is the latest version of over-the-air antenna TV and brings several improvements over the previous ATSC 1.0 standard including better reception, up to 4K Ultra HDTV video with movie theater-quality sound, more channels, mobile viewing on the go, on-demand internet content, and more. Antenna and internet connections give you access to the full range of capabilities of the new system. While you can receive NextGen TV without being connected to the internet, if you're connected to the internet, NextGen TV will deliver an even better experience that will be enhanced over time. Note: Some features may not be available at release and will come with future rollouts as broadcasters extend their aerial coverage and add new features. The content resolution, whether it is 4K or other, is determined by the broadcaster and not by the receiving device or the TV. While ATSC 3.0 signals are capable of being transmitted in 4K resolution, picture resolution is a broadcaster choice. Currently, in this rollout phase of NEXTGEN TV, broadcasters are commonly transmitting their ATSC 3.0 signals in HD with wider color gamuts. Until the 4K source is available, our TVs have good upscaling to 4K resolution. Should you need further assistance, please email the below information to [email protected]. • QuestionSo whats up with the zip tie that secures the ac cord not clipping because the hole in the plastic is to big unlike the A8H clipped just fine , i don't see anybody saying anything about it.

    Asked by BigE.

    • Answer Big E, you are right. Sony, get your act together. I measured the pin on the ziptie, and it will snap securely into a 3/16” dia hole ( .1875”) The hole on the back of the TV is .2055” dia (#5 drill size) Too big for ziptie pin to securely snap in, so it just falls out.
