Apparently, this has been an issue with the Bravia smart TVs since about 2015. Our 3 year old 55" A8F just bricked itself a few weeks ago and was going to cost $1000 to repair so we took it to e-waste and bought the A80J for $1699 WITH the Sony Protection Plus plan for another $200 for 2 years of added protection like screen breakage, power surges, etc. Never bought extended warranty type coverages for a TV before (never had to), but since this is such a big problem with Bravias we decided to get it this time. I think you can still buy it as long as it's still under the original warranty, but since they're already replacing your TV I'm not sure if you're still eligible. You should contact Sony directly and ask, but I'd recommend buying it if you can specifically for this issue. There was a page on Sony's customer blog where some TVs less than 2 years old were bricked after the Android OS had to be restarted for a glitch. Ours did it in 3, the TV wouldn't even turn on/flash even after all the troubleshooting with Sony tech support and we were out of warranty.
