    Asked by TechSpoob.

    • Answer I agree that this sub is very expensive. I purchased it in a package and received about a 200 discount. I have not yet set it up, but it sounds incredible in the cavernous Best Buy store and will be great in my family room. When you buy Sony, you buy the best.

  • QuestionI purchased the Sony 7.1.2 sound bar and subwoofer Model HTST5000 on 8/4/2018 My subwoofer rattles and is distorted. Not sure why? I don't blast the sound to its capacity. Would the above subwoofer work with my current sound bar?

    Asked by 007MLB.

    • Answer Switch to your soundbar input and hit "home" on the remote. Navigate to settings and look for the RF Optimization. Turn it off and then back on or if the issue keeps happening try leaving it off. This resets the bluetooth connection between the sub and/or satellite rear speakers and tends to clear up static/dropouts. I actually just leave it off now and have no issues.

  • QuestionCan the Sony Sa-Sw5 subwoofer be used with a Sony Bravia 9 tv without a soundbar? In other words, in conjunction with just the Bravia 9's speakers?

    Asked by Snakerog.

    • Answer Hi Snakerog, Thanks for inquiring about the SA-SW5. Unfortunately, no. It doesn't have terminals for speaker wires. This wireless subwoofer uses a radio frequency and is designed to be paired with our HT-A9 Home Theater System, HT-A9000 (BRAVIA Theater Bar 9), HT-A8000 (BRAVIA Theater Bar 8), HT-A7000, HT-A5000, HT-A3000, and HT-S2000 Soundbars. In addition, the BRAVIA 9 does not have a subwoofer output, so a subwoofer cannot be connected to the TV directly. A recommended option is to add a soundbar that includes a wireless, powered subwoofer or have an amplifier or AV receiver that has a dedicated subwoofer connection to use with our BRAVIA 9. Also, if you want to get a true audio-visual experience that draws you right into everything you're watching, adding the XV800, XV90, or ULT TOWER 10 to the TV lets you enjoy the enhanced sound of audio visual contents, such as live performance videos and movies, thanks to deep bass and room filling sound provided by the TV Sound Booster. Regards, Jess

  • QuestionHi. I have the hole system of Sony HT - a7000. Just having trouble with my SA-SW5 sub. It makes some bad noise sometimes. Sound like the speaker is blown up. I have put the bass level down to 10 but I can still hear it. Please help. Thank you.

    Asked by Pano.

    • Answer I first purchased an open box SA-SW5 in excellent condition. Atleast so I thought. The speaker ended up not in excellent condition and it made this static sound when the audio called for bass. The speaker was obviously blown and I returned it. I didn't want to chance this happening again so I purchased a new replacement SA-SW5. It sounds like your SA-SW5 speaker may be blown. Either return it to the store for a replacement or turn it in for warranty. I hope this helps. Good luck.

    Asked by Breddy.

    • Answer Hi Breddy, Thanks for reaching out to us. We're sorry to learn you are experiencing audio issues or no sound is heard from the active subwoofer. Sound may not be output from the target speakers depending on the playback signals or the speaker settings. Be sure to select the optimal sound field for the content. For details on relations between sound fields and speaker outputs, see “Relations between sound fields and speaker outputs.” on the product's help guide that can be found on our Sony Support website. If no sound or only a very low-level sound is heard from the subwoofer, please follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue: • Press SW (volume) + or BASS + on the remote control of a compatible model to increase the subwoofer volume. • If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), the sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear. You can check the subwoofer sound by emitting the test tone. Note: It may be difficult to hear low-frequency sounds from your subwoofer. To test your subwoofer, play movies with rumbling noises or music with loud bass tones. If you need further assistance, please let us know so we can turn your experience around. Unfortunately, due to the current Best Buy phishing protocol for your protection, we cannot provide a direct email or phone number for customer support as of now.
