A:AnswerThis is a 5.2 channel reciever. So two main stereo channels, two surround channels, one center channel, and two subwoofer channels. It doesn't have extra outputs for hooking up two rooms, it's meant for a single room theater setup. So your other two tower speakers would have to be used as surround sound speakers, or hooked up to each other (bridged together). This system has great sound when playing stereo sound sources like CD's, FM radio, and Records in surround sound mode on all 5 speakers.
A:AnswerThis system supports a 3.1 set up. This is how I have mine set up in one room. Using your remote, go the amp menu and scroll down to select speakers. From there select the 3.1 setup.
A:AnswerHi Customer,
Unfortunately, this AV receiver doesn't support that kind of function. We recommend our STR-DN1080 if want that feature.

A:AnswerI can't guarantee this is the correct answer, but I have connected two rear Bose speakers and two front speakers along with one center channel speaker; depending on what tuner/amplifier you're using, especially if it is a new multi channel hardware, it may depend on how the original soundtrack was recorded for what you are streaming, I don't always get the surround sound and I have to experiment with the panel or remote buttons which gives me two or three combinations. I do get the surround sound very often on Prime, but it depends on which channel you are on. For instance, it works well on BritBox and Acorn, but not surround on most PBS Masterpiece selections. I hope you may have far better results.
A:AnswerHi DoaDeere,
We recommend using this AV receiver on a television since computer doesn't support HDMI ARC. Also, the type of audio connection between the A/V receiver and the computer will vary based on the available input and output connections that are available on the A/V receiver and the computers sound card.

A:AnswerYes. Ohms 4-8 all are fine!! Actually this Sony reciever 5.2 allows for 2qty subwoofers (.2 is for 2 subwoofers, this Sony has 2 imputs available for subwoofers).
A:AnswerI use it with a 1080 screen and old HDMI cables. It works well, but my screen is not ARC-enabled - so, the sound has to be passed in on one of the HDMI input ports.
A:AnswerI wish I could give you better news, but this system says on the back of the box that it can handle 8-16 Ohms. Perhaps you can find a better solution through the web but its not looking good from me at least.
A:AnswerHi Clueless,
The maximum speakers that you set up with this AV receiver i s 5 speakers and 2 subwoofers. We recommend connecting wired speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms. The STRDH590 doesn't support a zoning function.

David
A:AnswerYou can hook up wireless speakers. Wireless speakers come with a transmitter/receiver which plugs in the back of the receiver. Distance would be based on the speakers you purchase and don't have to be the same brand.
A:AnswerHi James,
The AV receiver is only capable of 4K at 60p. Here's the specifications.

A:AnswerHi Jake,
Unfortunately, you can only listen to one audio source at a time. We recommend our STRDN1080
if you want that kind of function.

A:AnswerYes. 5.2 is 5 channels w 2 subwoofer imputs, hence 5.2 the .2 represents
(2)qty imputs for 2 subwoofers. Nice heh! Ps; look at the back panel of this reciever online. It shows all the imputs outputs etc.
