I don't usually play MMO shooters but when I do I'm kicking tail on Destiny's crucible. Pretty fun game, I've been playing since year one and I think The Taken King expansion with its new challenges and rewards on PvP and PvE levels has renewed my interest.

If you’re a fan of first person shooters, or just a fan of Bungie (the original creators of Halo) then this game is for you. Bungie perfected everything in Destiny ranging from customizable characters and weapons, to the crisp smooth gameplay and graphics, as well as a decent single player campaign with great replay value, and most importantly a polished online gaming engine. So whether you go it alone or decided to make friends with the ever growing world community, Destiny online is second to none.

Listen, all these people that are complaining about Destiny is because their precious Gally, Thorn and Last Word are getting a debuff. Don't listen to any of them, they just don't know how to play if something isn't OP. This game is a great deal of you have the unlocked Gamer Card. You get all DLC for around 50$. Better yet, trade in your Destiny copy, get credit toward this and save 20% with the gamer unlocked card and your getting a heck of a deal!

This is coming from someone who has been playing Destiny since the alpha. Yes, Destiny had it's flaws. I'll admit that the game isn't for some people. But what I will say is that this game has a lot to offer for people who will utilize it's content to its fullest potential. How is the PVP? Solid. How are the Raids? Incredible! Story....eh not so much, but they are working on it. If there is one thing I can say for certain it's that Bungie is truly listening to it's players and makes (almost) weekly updates to the game to make sure that it is the best it can be for it's players. With the 2.0 update and this Expansion, the game has changed DRASTICALLY from the way it used to play. Grinding for gear just to level up is gone. It's all XP based now. It uses Item Level just like any other MMO. The UI made major changes so quests and bounties are organized, easy to do, and can be finished from the menu.
Why am I saying all this? Because if you haven't played Destiny, or maybe you have but you gave it up, The Taken King is your reason to get back into it, or into it for the first time. This is Year 2 and boy is it different.
( By all means don't just take my word for it, or the word of some other person who is sour about not getting his Ghall. Do some research yourself and look at all of the new changes being made, then come up to your own conclusion. Watch some streamers or check out youtube videos to see the new content in action.)

I first played Destiny when they released their open beta years ago and I really enjoyed it, but when the game was actually released I only heard negative to mediocre reviews about the lack of story and unpredictable, inconsistent loot system. After The Taken King dlc came out though, I heard it was the content that revived Destiny and I grew interested again. So I played the demo again and decided to buy the game.
While TTK does improve on Destiny's story, add more cutscenes (but really only to the taken king missions), add more activities, and from what I've heard improved the loot system. That being said, the story is still pretty lean, the loot system is still weird (like being the highest performing player on your strike team but not getting anything after the mission), and there's still no matchmaking for Raids which require 6 people to complete. There are communities, websites, and apps to find other players to help find raid parties, however it's kinda sad that the Destiny community needs to do Bungie's job for them.
It's not all bad though, there are a lot of grear points of Deating that make it well worth your time. Gameplay is amazing; music, sound effects, and graphics are incredible; I like customizing my guardian and have fun using the different subclasses, and the story though very barebones is still passable and opens to really cool lore, which you can learn more about if you read the Grimoire (codex that can be found through the game and viewed on Bungie's website or Destiny's app).
Overall, I think Destiny is a grest game with flaws that Bungie is working hard to fix. Bungie knows shooter since they rewrote the book on FPS shooters with Halo so the mechanics are solid. It's kind of fun meeting other Destiny fans and playing with or against them, so if you think you would enjoy what I've been talking about then you should play it. Download the demo and play it for a few days to see if Destiny is your type of game, just realize that early story questions will not he answered in this game, but maybe in the sequel.

Every game gets old and your desire to play it as well. Destiny has continued to be in touch with its community and has adapted to the changes in demand for more content and more balance to relieve some frustrations with the game. The Taken King addresses both of those in a big way. Putting everyone on the same level playing field on day one without making those that have been playing for a year feel like they wasted their time. The new story is also a welcome addition to the universe both with new locations and planets to visit as well as giving old locations a new feel with the change in story. I recommend this game to all.

OK, I can rant on and on about Destiny. It comes down to this - buy this game. Destiny - The Taken King is a huge jump forward from the original game. The leveling system is clearer, the stories are better and the weapons make a lot more sense as well.
Plus there are new extras besides the game expansion - new weapons, new items, new 'thing' you can wear (rings, bangles, etc that increase your Light) and, frankly, one of my faves are the new emotes. I've always loved the fact that I can make my character dance but now I can make my character play air-guitar, or hit his head in frustration, or sardonically clap. I know it's silly, but it really adds something to the game for me.
My overall rating for this game is really 4-4.5 stars, but I give it the full 5 stars because it's such a great improvement over what Destiny started as.

I played the Destiny Beta before the original game was released and really enjoyed the gameplay, the world they had built and the playable classes. Everything around that was disappointing though and ultimately I didn't buy the base game. Now with The Taken King, everything changes for the better.
They've given the missions a real story with more voiceovers and flavor text to make the world feel alive and give context to what you're doing, shooting aliens. The shooting mechanics are still excellent, the classes are all fun and the weapons are unique. If you're looking for a game you can spend loads of time with, this is the one.
A word of caution, this game is best played with friends or people you know or can chat with. You can still do almost everything in the game solo, you'll just have lots more fun with friends.

I have had destiny since day one in 2014 and I play daily. So I was very excited for the Taken King to come out. The changes in the taken king were very different additions compared to the other destiny expansions and this version basically rewrites the whole game from year one. The changes they made have been very refreshing and have rejuvenated my interest in the game. Though I am sometimes disappointed with the weapon collection now, I understand it was done deliberately to improve the overall balance of the game. Its of importance to note the game is ONLY ONLINE. So a solid internet connection and Microphone should be considered when purchasing. There is no graphic violence (Blood, gore) so kids and parents can enjoy the game without going off the deep end.

I bought Destiny on Xbox One shortly after it launched, thinking I wouldn't play it much despite being a huge fan of Bungie's Halo series. At this point I have no doubt that I've played Destiny more than any other game in my life. It's an incredible game, but it comes down to who you play it with. The Legendary Edition includes more than twice the content of the original game at lower price point. It's a steal, and it'll give you hundreds of hours of enjoyment before you'll even need to consider the new expansion coming this fall. It's not without flaws, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a game with a more active community on console.

What Destiny Should've Been

I purchased Destiny when it first released (on XB1) and was extremely disappointed. It's a good first-person shooter but failed to deliver everywhere else. I stopped playing until The Taken King came out and switched to the PS4 version. After getting into the end-game content, I realized that this is what Destiny should've been on the initial release. There's enough content to keep you busy and eliminate most of the grind-feel that MMO's deliver. Overall, Destiny: The Taken King is a great game and extremely captivating.

If you tried the original Destiny, you hit the grind relatively quickly and if you were like me got to 25 and quit playing. The Taken King does away with hitting the grind from the get go and leaves it to the end game. The Taken King put new life in a stale game. If you only have the original Destiny, it has been nerfed to the point it is even less fun than the first time around. I am not sure how this new Destiny will be down the road but for now it is new and fresh and fun.

This expansion includes the original destiny game so you do NOT need the original to play. This adds a ton of content onto your original game. If you don't get this, you will definitely feel left out since most of the levels/weapons/missions will be locked without it. (in a sense, they are forcing you to buy it) Nonetheless, it is well worth the money especially since there will be sales on this.

I played Destiny at release and it was alot of fun, great graphics and gameplay. It had a very interesting story but really just sorta died out before doing anything. This really helps to keep the story going and as far as leveling and progression goes, it is much much better.

Destiny: The Taken King is the game Destiny should have been a year ago. With lots more and varied game play, the Taken King feels complete, where last year we got a game that felt hollow and didn't have enough going on to keep me engaged. The Taken King fulfills the promises Bungie made us with Destiny, just a year later than expected.

Everything you read read about this game is probably true. Great value considering you get the core game plus 3 DLC packages. If you stopped playing after Year 1, the Year 2 update has completely changed the game as you remembered it. Definitely give it a try, whether you've played it before or if you're considering jumping in.
