This is a very good security and surveillance system that misses the mark of being truly excellent. The system includes four cameras, a base unit with 2 TB of storage, and all of the mounting and wiring hardware necessary to begin surveillance. As with most security systems, a monitor is not included. I have a few problems with how this system is advertised versus how it performs, but I think it is a remarkable system given the price. Quality for surveillance systems is going up and prices are going down and this system falls in a desirable intersection of those two trends. (1) The base unit allows for eight cameras to be connected; four cameras are included in this package so you can expand your surveillance capabilities if you need to. (2) Setup for local surveillance (without establishing a remote connection) is intuitive and fast - setting the base unit up was much simpler without referring to the included guide. (3) Power to each camera and video from each camera is established by (included) ethernet cables - each of which is 60' long. Because of the bulk of these cables, I think they might create a problem for mounting outside - not a negative for this system, but something that the end user should consider before seeing what is inside the box. (4) It is VERY confusing that each camera has a connection for an ethernet cable but also has a connection that appears to be for a power source (see photo below). The second cable from the camera is unused and is useless in this system. None of the included instructions addresses this. (5) I like the camera feed from these camera a lot, but there are a few things that need to be addressed. The images I am seeing do NOT look like anything 4k. And the overview for this product states: "You'll be able to see fine details essential for evidence with state-of-the-art upscaling cameras that cleverly create a 4K display resolution...". So I believe that the image being recorded here is an upscaled image that is not the natural image of a real 4k camera. That detail really bothers me. The images are good but not great - they are NOT 4K. (6) Low light imaging is very good but far from excellent. Their specifications suggest that color imaging is preserved into near total darkness - but that is not the case. Black and white recording through infrared lighting is effective (with some ghosting). Infrared lights from the cameras are strong and helpful but their radius of effectiveness is FAR short of the claimed 130'. (7) Motion detection is REALLY good here. (8) The Swann security app looks amazing (from pictures) - but I am planning to use this system locally without a remote hookup. Overall: This is a very nice surveillance system that doesn't live up to its 4K claim (because it's upscaled 4K). Images are very nice but not excellent and low light images are stellar in black-and-white (infrared) and having a 2 TB drive is solid! I wholeheartedly recommend this system, especially at this price - but you need to understand that some of their claims are a little misleading.

MODEL REVIEWED SWANN - MASTER SERIES 8-CHANNEL, 4-CAMERA, INDOOR/OUTDOOR POE WIRED 4K UHD 2TB HDD NVR SECURITY SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM MODEL:SONVK-876804-US HEADLINE: GOOD UPGRADE TO 4K SECURITY CAMERAS – SHARP IMAGE NIGHT / DAY OVERVIEW: The SWANN - MASTER SERIES 4K NVR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM was very easy to setup and get running right away. Everything you need is included in the box. Simply hook the NVR (Network Video Recorder) to a monitor or TV, the Mouse to the NVR, and your NVR to your WIRED Network (eg Router backport). I do recommend that you test everything before permanently installing the cameras. Speaking with 20 years of security camera experience it is much easier to do updates and get all your settings / labels, etc perfect before you climb up on a ladder. The cameras are very lightweight, but have a pretty good 4K image capture, especially at this price point. By way of comparison, each camera on my current (5 year old) system cost almost as much as the entire SWANN - MASTER SERIES 4K NVR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM with 4 Cameras and 2TB NVR. The SWANN 4K cameras are finally edging out my old 2K cameras in image quality and sharpness. As an added benefit the included cameras are connected via POE (power over ethernet) as were my old cameras, so I can just unplug the old cameras and plug in the new ones from SWANN. I like that the SWANN - MASTER SERIES 4K NVR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM has a built in POE switch to control and power each POE camera. There are 4 cameras included, but the system can be upgraded to 8 cameras with the included (built-in) POE switch. SETUP: The setup is very straight forward, you can use mobile apps or the NVR itself with you own monitor and included mouse (that is what I did). It takes a while to tweak all the setting to your needs. You can setup events to record, event alerts, face (person) recognition, recording schedules and more. You can mask (block out) unwanted items in your camera view. For example, I block views of the neighbor’s property, so that only my property lines are visible in my recordings. You can change the recording resolution of each camera, as well as frame per second and more. Because these are IP cameras, you can also control the cameras directly, for additional fine tuning of each camera. Just type the IP address of the camera into your browser (assuming you are on the same network). FYI, the cameras can also work with most IP based NVR’s in case you need some time to transition everything over to the new SWANN - MASTER SERIES 4K NVR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM. When I first plugged the NVR into my network it recognized there were updates available, which I installed before completing the setup. SUMMARY: At this price point, the SWANN - MASTER SERIES 4K NVR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM is one of the best I have used / tested (~ 10 systems over 20 years). One very tiny nit, is that the included ethernet cables are pretty cheap quality. They get the job done, but only include 2 pairs of wires, instead of 4 pairs used in standard grade cables. That is all they need, but the wire is not very rigid and easily kinked. For me, I already had cable run, so that was not an issue for me.

It has LED lights but doesnt come with power adapter. Only thing I dont like is the light option doesnt have motion option

PROS: * No service subscription! * PoE * 2-way speaker on each camera * Easy to setup NVR * Access cameras with mobile app * Easy to replace HDD CONS: * You may need to hire someone for installation == SETUP == The most challenging part of setting this up is the camera placement and running the cables to the NVR (which needs to be next to your router). This really depends on your home/building and if you feel comfortable doing the install yourself. Swann does include an installation card, which will help guide you to setup an appointment and work out the costs to have a profession come out to setup the cameras and run the cables. For the NVR, it couldn't be easier. You just need to go through a couple menu prompts to set the admin account for the device, date/time formatting, NVR name, and video encoding format. The front of the NVR has two USB ports, which are used for transferring footage from the NVR to an external drive or thumb-drive. You'll also need to create a Swann account (if you don't already have one) in the mobile app. Once you're logged in, you just need to use your phone's camera to scan a QR code on the NVR display to link it to your account. Then you're done! Now you can access your footage from either the NVR or the mobile app. == PERFORMANCE == Footage looks great, even at night! The audio recording isn't amazing, but I appreciate that it's there. Facial recognition, person/vehicle detection, and thermal sensors are nice options, but the range is only good for UP TO 32 feet. So, again, your building layout and where you're placing the cameras really matters. Each camera is equipped with two (really bright) spotlights. These are great for acting as a deterrence or helping you get to the door safely at night. Swann states that the cameras are IP66 rated, with an operating temperature between -22F to 131F, but I'll have to wait a few months to see how they hold up to a Minnesota winter... The NVR storage comes with a 2TB Seagate HDD, which is user-replaceable (just six screws to open up the NVR). I appreciate that Swann made it easy to access and replace should it ever fail. I'm not worried about the storage capacity, since the NVR will record over the oldest footage once the drive is full. If you want to keep all your footage, you'll either need to connect an external storage device to transfer the footage, or use a cloud back-up (which will require a subscription). == FINAL THOUGHTS == I'm really happy with my new setup. Once the cameras were installed and the wiring was sorted out, I don't need to worry about anything. Unless I want to save a particular event, I don't even need to interact with the NVR. If you're considering getting a wired security camera system, this is a solid option!

I have set up many security camera systems over the last few years. This is my second Swann PoE NVR system. The Swann - Master Series 8-Channel, 4-Camera, Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 4K UHD 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System has just the right combination of features for a reasonable price. The setup process is straightforward, with good printed multilingual documentation and easy to follow instructions. Setting up the NVR with the smart phone app is made easy by scanning the QR code found on the NVR label. Image quality is great at 4K, though it could be a bit choppy over the network depending on your Internet connection speed. All consumer-grade 4K security camera systems are limited to 15 fps @4k. You can get 20fps at 1080p or 2k resolution. This NVR system allows you to configure each individual camera channel to its own resolution/fps combo. You can also specify different resolutions for recording/playback and mobile app playback. These cameras are stuffed with many features. The built-in powerful LED spot lights are very bright and provide color night vision. Additionally there are heat and motion detection sensors as well as powerful infrared night vision. You can set up person or car detection and custom alerts at different times of day. Moreover your recordings can also be backed up to your Dropbox account in case your NVR gets stolen. The Swann Security app for Android or iOS is easy to set up and Swann is always working on bug fixes and improvements. It still requires you to register and set up a cloud account with Swann, that could also be used for enhanced cloud recordings and features for an additional subscription cost. Alexa and Google assistant integration is included. I tried it with my Fire TV cube and it displayed live view cameras on my 4k TV. All in all, this is a reasonably priced security camera system from a reputable manufacturer, with great image quality and tons of features not found in other similarly priced systems.
