Great DIY Security System for Any Home
I installed the Ring Alarm 8-Piece kit to cover doors/windows and a main hallway in my home, and here’s how it stacks up after several weeks of use: What I like: • Setup was painless. The base station, keypad, contact sensors, motion detector and range-extender shipped in one box and the app walked me through installation with minimal fuss. I had it up and running in about 30 minutes. • Integration with existing Ring devices is super smooth. Since I already have a Ring doorbell and a few cameras, the Alarm kit just showed up in the same app and dashboard — nice to manage everything from one place. • Great value. You get solid home-security coverage at a fraction of what a full professional system would cost. The motion sensor and door/window contacts all respond quickly and reliably. • Expandable system. If you want to add more sensors, locks, or motion detectors later it’s easy — good for scaling as your needs grow. What could be better: • The keypad is functional but feels a bit basic: the buttons are small and the display could be clearer at a distance. • If you have large rooms, thick walls or places far from the base station, you might need extra sensors or extenders to get full coverage. • To get the full “professional monitoring” feel (with emergency dispatch, etc.), you’ll need to subscribe to Ring’s monitoring plan — the kit works fine on its own, but some of the premium features are behind a paywall. • Though the built-in siren is audible, it’s not as loud or deep as some large professional systems — if your house is big or has a lot of ambient noise then you’ll want to test placement. My verdict: If you’re a homeowner looking for a straightforward, DIY-friendly security system that ties into your smart home and scales nicely — this is a very solid choice. For those with large estates, heavy traffic entry points, or requiring ultra-high-end sensors and sirens, there are more premium options — but for most typical homes it hits the sweet spot of cost vs capability.

Decent and Reasonable Subscription Offerings
Installation was pretty easy - it took me a couple of hours because I took my time removing the previous system, painting where the old sensors had been, mounting the keypad with screws, and hiding the wires on the base; but in reality it shouldn't take more than an hour to install everything. Love how it's also easy to add family, all the customizable features, and the thought put into the design to help replace batteries down the road. They provide a 30-day pro subscription trial; but that's optional and one can opt for no subscription if they're ok with just getting notifications and not having 911 notified. There's also a more premium virtual security guard option which is pretty pricey; but might be worth it for businesses or those in high risk areas - pretty much pay to have someone watch your cameras 24/7 (so not worth it unless you buy more cameras). I just wish Ring offered 24/7 recording and they they offered a DVR addition without having to buy the Eero base station; but can live without those since they do sell a series of sensors to help start recording. Also wish they brought back some if their gimmicks - like the home security drone that they used to make a couple of years ago; but that's a different story.

GREAT security system
I have used the system for a few weeks now and can honestly say it is very simple to install. The app is easy to use and camera quality is better than I thought. So far so great! You really can’t go wrong with the Ring system in my opinion. Worth every cent and gives my family peace of mind, which let’s face it, these days that is….PRICELESS!!
