My wife told me a few months ago that we needed to replace the microwave that came with our house. The time you had to heat stuff was 3-4 times what is is with our new Whirlpool microwave. This thing ROCKS!
We bought this one because it fit in the cabinet. It gave good service for several years but started to develop rust at the inside left rear corner. Now the paint is showing signs of heat damage. Guess we'll have to replace it before it starts a fire.
The microwave works well and would have given it a higher rating if it didn't have a quality issue. When I removed my microwave from its box I noticed that the support ring for the plate was broken. I complained to Whirlpool and they sent me a replacement part. Now after one month the replacement ring has broken again.
This Whirlpool microwave heats food and beverages in half the time as my previous less powerful unit.
I bought this to go above my new Kitchenaid 24" wall oven. With the trim kit to give it the finished look, it was far cheaper than purchasing the actual Kitchenaid microwave that fits the 24" space. And since Whirlpool makes Kitchenaid, the stainless steel matches that of the wall oven.
Note: a shelf also had to be built to set the microwave on but that was a simple task.
Searched and searched for a new Built-in microwave after our old one shorted out and started sparking. So far this microwave has got the job done, it only took a few modifications to make it work with our old decorative trim and I am pretty happy with it.
Cons- the button to open the door is pretty hard to push and confuses people that they have to keep pushing. They stop and check to make sure there isn’t something else they are supposed to do first. The play button rather than “start” has confused quite a few people but it’s just something to get used to.
We had bought a previous version of this model for one primary reason and that was a perfect fit for the cabinet. Only required a little trim. The previous one died twice. First time a interlock failed at about 3 years. This time we decided to replace verse repair. We dislike the color of the display. The earlier model matches the other appliances, this one does not. However the new display seems to be sharper.
As the back of the microwave is agaist the wall it does not move around like past microwaves.

A:AnswerHello Cindy! Yes, the Trim kits for this model would be 27" MK2167AZ and 30" MK2160AZ. The dimensions on this model are: Depth 17 1/4", Height 13", Width 21 3/4". The dimensions on model WMC30516AS0 are: Depth 17 1/4", Height 13, Width 21 3/4. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.
A:AnswerMy opening is 22 1/2" wide, 13 1/2" high and 15 1/2" deep. However the oven sticks out another 2 1/2". I do not have a lot of room for it to vent but the old one (almost the exact model) lasted about 3 1/2 years. In order to fit into your space I think you would have to remove the feet (if it can be done) as it would be a very tight fit.
