Best z690 ddr4 board out there. Tons of m2 slots (with heatsinks), wifi, rgb, great vrm, great bios. I’m glad I went with a ddr4 this time around. If you were like me then you’ve probably read everything about ddr4 vs ddr5. I didn’t feel that ddr5 was worth it quite yet…this was after I bought the msi unify X and a set of gskill 6400cl32 (hynix) which is probably as of writing this, the best ddr5/mobo for ram OC. But by the time ddr5 gets good, we would’ve moved on from lga 1700 sockets already. So no reason to adopt this early unless you actually benefit greatly from ddr5 increased bandwidth. Just as happy with this msi edge compared to that unify x. For gaming, you probably won’t notice any sort of difference unless you play 600 fps at 1080p. Just put that extra money you saved towards a better gpu. I ended up with a strix 3080 (msrp yay!), 12700k and 32gb of 3600/cl14 14-14-14-34 b die. Could have spent less but I like to run timespy and that particular benchmark loves OC ram. And if you got spare ddr4 lying around then just use that and save half a grand on buying ddr5.

This is a great mid-range gaming motherboard. While it doesn’t support ddr5, it does support the latest Alder Lake LGA1700 Intel chips, and boasts a massive amount of storage capabilities with four m.2 PCIe gen 4 slots and 6 SATA ports. It features two 8 pin connectors for over locking and supports XMP for boosting memory. That said MSI’s bios interface is far superior to most other brands. The metal preinstalled iO shield and iO plate with RGB lighting are cool but may not be for everyone. This is definitely a mobo that’s meant to be seen! I personally used this mobo with an i9-12900K, 64GB Corsair vengance 3200MHz, EVGA RTX 3070 Ti, 2x m.2 PCIe gen 4 2TB ssd, Corsair iCUE Capellix H150i Elite, 6 additional iCUE RGB 120mm fans and a Corsair iCUE 5000x RGB case. The computer runs like a dream. Mobo came with all necessary drivers on an included USB stick. Setup was a breeze, though you’ll want to go to MSI’s website and update all your firmware right away it was nice having what you needed to get started. This is a solid gaming mobo choice for someone that wants feature heavy with room for expansion. I highly recommend it.

Need to overclock so processor and ram run at max speed otherwise, it'll default to slower speed. No wifi when installing windows or after installing windows. You have to download drivers on a different pc and run setup and it will enable wifi. Pairing this with i9 a d rtx 4080. My pc boots in 16 secs. Games run at 4k 100-144 fps.
