Dyson V12 Detect Slim Cordless Vacuum - Yellow/Iron

Great vacuum cleaner as always, I love using the light dust detector. It’s amazing.

Inside my 1300-square foot home, you'll find mostly hard surfaces with a few rugs, two adults, two kids, and a dog. There is always cleaning that needs to be done; especially the floors. We need a vacuum that's easy to pick up and use at a moment's notice, and does a great job getting all the stuff off the floors and out of the corners. The lightweight, laser-equipped Dyson V12 is perfect for us. Before getting this vacuum, our main vac was an LG A9 CordZero. The LG was fine, but my complaints about it are that it's kind of heavy and unwieldy, and it's a pain in the butt to empty out. I also had to pay to have a replacement head shipped from overseas about 18 months into its life. The most annoying thing about it is I usually have to take out the inner filter and dig my fingers around inside to get all the stuff out after a cleaning session. The Dyson V12 has solved all of those problems, and then solved some other ones I didn't even know I had. It is lightweight, easy to maneuver, and dead simple to empty into the garbage can. On top of that, its brush heads each clean extremely well for their special focus, and they're super simple to change out and even open up to clean when necessary. But the best thing about the V12 detect is the LASER on the soft brush head! This is the first time in my life where I have found cleaning not only easy but ENJOYABLE. The laser makes using the vacuum into a game, and I am absolutely here for it. It has even made my kids say "that is so cool!" (But I should note, when asked if they would like to use it to clean their floor, my oldest said "no" without hesitation. They much preferred watching me use it, hahaha.) In the past week of using the V12, I've had occasion to clean many different items in my house. Let me describe each of the important components and what they've done for me: ~The soft "Laser Slim Fluffy" cleaning head~ As its name implies, this head is slim, fluffy, and has a laser. I have found it an absolute pleasure to use all around my home. It's slimness allows it to fit under the doorstops behind doors (see pic), while cleaning a variety of floors. We have hardwood in most of the home, vinyl in the kitchen, and cork in the home office. The laser casts a green glow, showing all the dust, dirt and dog hair trapped in the nooks and crannies of the house. It really does feel like a game following the light with my eyes as I pass over the floors, then pulling the vacuum back over the floor to see how well I've done. I love it. Another reason to love it: a few days into using it, I sucked a small overripe strawberry into one of the corners. Red goo all up inside. It was very simple to twist off one end of the brush head, remove and rinse the fluffy part, wipe out the shell with a paper towel, and reinstall the head into the body. ~The standard Dyson Motorbar head~ If you've used a Dyson vacuum before, you know most of what you need to know about this head. There is no laser on this one, but it does clean like the dickens. The new twist here is that the head has hard plastic fins inside for catching hair before it gets stuck on the head itself. Brilliant! In the few places we have rugs in the house, I have found this head to work wonders. I can fill up the canister easily with dog hair in just one pass on the big 7x10 area rug in my living room. ~The new "Hair Screw" tool~ Apparently this one is what I should be using for dog hair! I have found it very effective on the rug at the back door, which collects hair, grass, and dirt. This tool probably made that rug the cleanest it's been in a long time. In addition, I used this tool to clean the welcome mat outside the front door, which had a bunch of pieces of grass stuck to it. It didn't do a perfect job, but it made the mat look MUCH better. ~The dust chamber/main body~ Obviously this is where most of the magic happens. The V12's main body is lightweight with an easy-to-grip handle. On the side that faces the user, there is a screen that shows how many things the vacuum has picked up, separating them into categories based on their relative size. There is a small button on the body that allows the user to change from the default Auto mode to low/medium/high settings. In auto mode, the Dyson increases the suction speed when it detects a lot of debris coming into the canister. The battery charges very quickly and lasts about 40 minutes on a charge, and can be separated from the body to charge plugged into an outlet. The dust chamber is not huge, and fills up pretty full in a 15 to 20-minute cleaning session, but it is extremely easy to empty. There is a red handle on the bottom half of the chamber that pushes the entire cowling of the unity downward, simultaneously emptying the contents and brushing against the center filter body, wiping away the excess dirt. By pumping the handle up and down a few times, you can clear away almost everything inside of the chamber. Then you can use a finger or two on the outside of the chamber to close the lid. It's great. ~The rest of the gear~ The rest of the stuff that comes with the Dyson V12 Detect is pretty standard. A couple of attachments and a wall mount. I found the mount very easy to attach to a wall of my pantry, and the only one thing I can complain about with my whole experience is that the two attachment points on the bottom of the all mount don't seem to be able to fit any two of the brush heads side by side. I ended up leaving the Motorbar head attached there most of the time and put the Hair Screw into a cabinet with other cleaning supplies, to be gotten out when necessary. ~The final word~ I am very satisfied with the Dyson V12. The laser makes it fun to use, the motor is powerful, the unit is lightweight and easy to maneuver, and the whole thing is built with Dyson quality. I'm looking forward to years of good use out of it!

here comes the latest generation of dyson, Dyson V12 Slim is light, the whole thing weight about 5 pounds the experience while using the vacuum is also a lot better considering how light this vacuum is. i’ve always wanted to get a Dyson vacuum, now that I finally own one, I can fully test it out what these vacuum are all about. since it’s the slim version, the canister is a smaller than the other version they have, I do not find this as an issue considering right now I have 1700 sq ft condo, and I do prefer emptying the canister as soon as I finished vacuuming. being the slim version doesn’t less feature either, this V12 packs with the latest technology that dyson offers V12 does offer the screen on top to keep you informed on things that’s it’s being picked up while vacuuming. the data shows four graph. yellow for allergies, orange for microscopic dust, pink is for dust mites ( which is the main thing i’m interested about) and last purple for sugar. battery life timer is also will be displayed, battery life can last for an hr, really depending on how dirty your floor is and how hard the vacuum is working it’s self. you can hear the vacuum go louder depending if that surface might have a great out of dust. one the best feature of dyson v12 is the laser, the laser help you see dirt/ dust that you probably would miss by just looking at it, so far from my experience for a week, this laser for me is a must! it’s amazing how much this makes me feel like i’m fully cleaning my house and seeing all the dust I can clear out. Dyson V12 comes with 3 main brush head for vacuum, it comes with this new brush head that even hair doesn’t get tangled up, I was also impressed with that upon using the attachment and im glad that dyson created one and bundled it with V12 the button on top was a bit weird to me I was kinda used to have trigger button for vacuum, but overall I do like not having to hold the button just to start the cleaning, I believe previous dyson are all trigger pulls so if you prefer that, then that might throw you off or feel inconvenient. other than that this is one beautiful performing vacuum. it’s strong it has great power to clean anything you have at home. have multiple attachments to choose to help you with your everyday needs when it comes to cleaning. I highly recommend this for dyson lover and new user who want to experience it, it’s light weight, great tech under the hood. that I personally think it makes cleaning the house more fun while learning what potential dirty you have inside your home, the battery life also lasted longer than i would imagine, preferably i’d recommend keeping it on auto, your vacuum power will automatically adjust anyway. overall a great piece of tech to have at home

This is my second Dyson V-series product and I won't waste any time- they just get better. The V12 Detect Slim is light and relatively diminutive. It's very easy to wield in standard and unusual angles and heights, meaning you can get to all the nooks and niches in your home. Power is excellent, and suction is automatically or manually optimized depending on the dust level. I'll admit, it's motivating when I hear the motor speed up in a particularly dusty area such as under the couch. When I first used the laser feature (it highlights particles you might not notice), I thought it was a little gimicky. I now like it because it helps ensure I've done a complete vacuuming job. The LCD screen provides data on particle size and volume taken in, as well as a variable run time countdown (varies by speed use of course) and also the power mode setting. Dyson provides several useful attachments including the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head previously mentioned, a Motorbar cleaner head for high-density hair situations, a Hair screw tool specifically for picking up long hair and pet fur, and two more standard pieces: a combo tool for delicate surfaces and fabrics and a crevice tool. Finally, a "docking station" for wall mounting and a clip for the Combo and Crevice tools. My sole irritation was they moved the power switch from a trigger location to a button on top of the device. I don't currently like it because turning the device on an off is a two-handed exercise. This may prove to be an asset in the long run, as it takes stress off your hand and fingers when vacuuming. I love this device, probably more than anyone should love a vacuum.

Everyone knows that Dyson vacuums are the creme de la creme of vacuum cleaners today for the consumer. Dyson continues to innovate in this area and invent new features that I never knew a vacuum could have! This Dyson v12 slim cordless vacuum is a great example of this. In my house, I have hard wood flooring throughout and only carpet in the bedrooms. This is kind of my biggest gripe with this vacuum is that the roller with the laser is ONLY designed for hardwood floors or tile. So what this means, is when I am done cleaning my hard floors, I have to switch the head out with the one designed for carpets (and hard floors). It would've been really nice if they could just bake the laser tech in with a hybrid roller so you don't have to switch back and forth when cleaning. Besides that, the vacuum works great. The laser is very cool because you truly do see dirt/debris that you can't see with the naked eye (see photos). Also, Dyson has a new technology where it detects how many allergens, dust particles, dust mites and sugar that you pick up every time you use it. It just is more validation that you are getting a good clean. Also, it is nice how in auto mode the vacuum will automatically adjust suction power based on how much dirt/allergens are detected, taking the guess work out. The mounting kit that is included is nifty, I love being able to store all the attachments on the vacuum and mounting kit and have it charge. The battery life is ok, I get about 35 minutes on auto mode, sometimes 40, not the best, but it is enough to do a cleaning of my 1000 sqft home on one charge. The cleaning power is great on this thing, it picks up dirt and dust I never knew existed, even after going over it with my old vacuum, new dirt was found!

My old Dyson vacuum was too unwieldy in my new house, so I bought this as a replacement. The lasers on the hardwood floor worked way better than expected at finding areas I missed. The vacuum power seems good but, as others have said, the battery is small and slow to recharge but is enough to do my entire house if needed.

Was considering V15, but decided on this because of the stay-on button, lighter weight, and smaller head. I have found it to have excellent suction and battery life. It seems to charge much quicker than my now-retired Dyson DC4. The feature to prevent hair from tangling around the brush seems to work.

We have had both upright and hand held Dyson vacuums for many years and loved them all. But, when we purchased new carpet with deeper plush pile, it became almost impossible to push the uprights in the carpets. We purchased a new, much more costly Dyson upright, claiming to solve our problem, with no success. The same with Shark vacuums. This Dyson stick works great.
