Hello, No you don’t need to hold the power button that was the big difference with the V-12. The only thing that’s disappointing about the V-12 is the trash canister. Dyson should have made it bigger,so you will have to empty constantly while cleaning. I chose th V-12 over the V-15 due to the lightness. V-12 is lighter than the V-15.
