QuestionMy companion 5 is connected to TV but with no reason it automatically disconnects from TV then I have to tap the volume controller's pad to reconnect. This happens randomly some times occasionally and sometimes very often. Please help, Javid

- Answer The speakers have an automatic mute feature which may be causing you to "hit/tap" the controller. I would do some research (contact the company's customer service dept. or just ask Uncle GOOGLE if there's a way to defeat this function. Hope this helps.

QuestionAnyway I can listen to the system using usb but I want to plug usb to other devices besides computer because the aux does not work. If I get female usb to headphone jack and connect that to usb of companion 5 will I get sound out of it.

- Answer Don't know, but I doubt it, as your computer uses USB drivers to interface with your computer when connected through USB. If you use a mini plug patch cord with a male stereo connection on each end, that works. plug one end into the computer's headphone jack (if that works), and the other end into the bose's hockey puck volume control.

QuestionAre the speaker stands detachable in any way? Or is the plastic stand all one molded piece with the speaker? I would like to lay these on a bookshelf above my desk and they would be too high with the stands and facing up.

QuestionWith Mac El Capitan the connection to usb (Companion 5) mysteriously won't work at times. Sometimes there is no sound when I first start my music player or YouTube video, and sometimes the sound converts back to my iMac's internal speakers while playing.

QuestionI want to know are these speakers loud enough to rock the house? Listening to new Klipsch promedia 2.1 right now. They sound awesome if I'm I'm the room with them near them full blast. Thanks for your input

- Answer Yes they will rock the house at higher volume. I have the volume set to 30% and it fills my whole office. The bass volume is about 60%. If you turn both volume and bass up it will fill the whole house.

- Answer The satellites are very roughly a foot tall. It looks like you can easily unscrew them off the base; but I'm not sure that's recommended. I've had them connected to both USB and USB 3.0 and they worked fine in both cases.

QuestionOptical audio to 3.5mm input not workingI have an LG Smart TV with optical audio output. I purchased an optical audio to 3.5mm cable so that I could connect it to the aux input in the Bose Companion 5, but no sound is coming out of the speakers. I have set the TV up for external speaker use (Audio out). Why is this not working?

- Answer Try to connect usb plug from you companion to your TV or something else. This Companion Bose system seems to need usb to be plugged even if it's not a pc/mac. I think Bose does not want you to use this system outside pc/mac environment so much that sound is so good/close to Bose home system.

- Answer Yes, but some systems need a pre-amp or the power out for the sound will be weak. Also, vinyl is an analog signal. You will lose noticeable sound quality since this is a digital system. But it will still sound good, just not audiophile quality.
