QuestionFor widescreen images, does this squash the image horizontally or give black bars at the top/bottom of the screen? If it squashes the image, does it squash 4:3 images and get black bars on the left/right and does it have a zoom function to unsquash them?

- Answer I do not have a big screen, but I it is 42 and it doesn't squash the screen and no bars. Sorry I did not see a zoom feature.

QuestionCan this be used to convert HDMI out (via the ARC) to analog for purposes of sound? For example, I have a sound system that only accepts analog cables and a TV that only has ARC HDMI output. Can I use this to bridge the gap between the two?

- Answer No it will not extract audio from HDMI-ARC output from TV. I tried it multiple ways and am returning the device to BB.

QuestionIf i purchase this unit, and plug into the HDMI ARC. and hook up cables to and old analog stereo, will I be able to control the volume with the TV, or am i still going to have to use 2 separate remotes? its works through ear phone jack, audio not so good.

- Answer The answer provided by Insignia is incorrect. In another question, they state that it does not support Arc. Unfortunately, I purchased this based on their answer for this question and not the one that states it doesn't work. It doesn't.

QuestionI am trying to attach a soundbar that does not have hdmi connections. Would this allow me to connect the TV to the soundbar? There is an SPDIF hook up on the TV and an optical hook up on the soundbar. The optical cable didn't work.
