A:AnswerYou can buy a garden hose by feet on Home Depot, get 2 or 3 feet of a 5/8" one. After that just stick it on the back, you don't need to use a garden hose male connector to set it up.
A:AnswerFreon is not really used as a refrigerant coolant anymore because it contains CFC's that are harmful to the environment and ozone layer. That's not to say that the unit does not use another form of chemical refrigerant that might need to be replenished. Contact Frigidaire directly. I looked in the instruction manual and it provides no instructions that refrigerant needs to be replaced, only that the filters need to cleaned with soap and water or vacuumed as needed.
A:AnswerThe kit is designed for the standard window type. Anything else you have to do a little leg work. I felt it was worth it.
We have victorian style windows (about 3 feet tall) we removed the window and cut a piece of ply wood to make up the difference in the height of the window.
A:AnswerThe hose extends up to "55 in length and the width can go from 26.6 inches to 48.5. However, if you have a special situation like mine (I live in a mobile;e home) where the main piece is just a little short, and the inserted slider piece doesn't afford a full opening of the hose opening, you can cut the slider piece to fit. I have my roommate doing so with a band saw at his workplace. The height is approximately 6.75 to 7 inches. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerActually, it was the plastic piece that goes in the window, not the hose, that I was asking about. We have slider windows that are 46" tall. It is next to impossible to find anything that will work with these windows, and the other option of throwing up some plywood was not going to fly with the landlady. Luckily for Best Buy, since they never saw fit to answer my question, I found someone else who had bought this unit who could answer my question. And the answer is YES!
A:AnswerThe end of the drain hose can not be higher than the outlet on the unit. It is a gravity drain. You should try draining it to a bucket. Of course you will have to watch it to keep it from overflowing. Another option is to get a small condensate pump then it would pump it up and out the window.
