A:AnswerI first suggest contacting your isp to run a signal strength test. If the test is ok then replace the router or .modem depending on the test results.
A:AnswerUnit not good to be exposed. However, I have my unit plugged inside near a window facing the outbuilding that is the target for my wifi extender signal.
Buildings are 100 feet apart, through 2 stucco walls. I get 5 out of 5 bars on signal. My unit exceeds what mfg says it will do, so depending on
what you need your signal to go through or around, it may not need to be put outside. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerThe USB on the back of this router is not made to attach printers or scanners even with a USB hub/switch. The USB on the router is designed to add a flash drive or USB external hard drive to your network. You can use the router to extend your network to allow an Ethernet connections for an Ethernet printer or scanner but you must run a RJ-45 cable to the local.
If you do not want to run a cable, you can use a PowerLIne Bridge device such as NETGEAR Powerline 2000 to get Ethernet connectivity to the router, access point, switch, or to your printer/scanners.
A:AnswerMy N series router died and Best Buy had this AC1200 on sale for the same price as the N (seems like it was the N600, but it's been several months ago), so I bought this one. It works beautifully. The only this I miss is that I have limited desk space and the old unit stood vertically thereby having a smaller foot print. However, the AC1200 is a great unit.
A:AnswerNeither. Just plug into the wall and connect modem and the router together with the yellow Ethernet cord they give you. Then your computer will recognize it and ask for the password from the bottom of the router.
