QuestionCan these bulbs be programmed to go on automatically at sunset and off at a specific time? If so, can it be done in the hue app or is a specific other app needed?

- Answer You can set each bulb with specific parameters including geofencing so the bulb comes on when your phone returns home. You can also set them to come on at sunset and off at sunrise in the HUE app. I have not tried to alter the times the "off at sunrise" but you can probably change the off time.

- Answer You would need a step-up transformer. These bulbs are not dual voltage.

- Answer I have my bulbs set to certain strengths. A motion sensors trigger the ones in my crafting office set to 60%. When I'm doing fine work and need brighter light it's a simple matter of telling it to brighten to 100%. The lights aren't a bright white, but they provide enough illumination for weeding fine designs on cut vinyl. I believe the white ambiance bulbs that will do a bright white though if that is the tone you're looking for.

QuestionDo these bulbs work in cold and hot weather for instance on front porch area?

- Answer I have 6 installed on a back porch and two on the front porch. They are all working like champs and I've had no issues with them even during heavy rain, cold weather or steamy hot weather. Now I don't know how they'd do in a climate where it gets much colder (Northwest Florida gets a few freeze days but not that deep extended cold of the more northern locations) but so far they're great here.

- Answer I have a samsung robot vacuum I use with smart things and Alexa. I have a Phillips hub as well but don’t link the account to smart things; I use the Phillips hue app and linked it to Alexa. The hue app has a lot more options and more versatility; but you have to have the hub in use and connected to use the app. I tried it with smart things but can do more with the hue app and just Alexa so went that route. I. An create scenes and routines within the hue app and then use just Alexa to activate. Worked better this way for me but I’m sure there are other ways to implement the system. Either way, it’s a cool setup.

QuestionI want to use these in a wall mounted light fixture. I currently have normal bulbs with an on-and-off switch. If i install these bulbs into my fixture, would the switch have to remain in the "on" position at all times for the bulbs to work properly?

- Answer requires the hub. The bulbs do not directly connect to your wifi.

- Answer Yes, they’ll work in a 3-way fixture. 3-way fixtures work by using the switch to activate different filaments in the bulb (one, the other, or both). All receive the same voltage. With the Hue bulbs, just install the bulb, turn on the lamp until the bulb lights and you’re ready to begin the setup (or just us it like a regular [non 3-way] bulb).
