Likely to encounter false alarms
||Posted .Owned for 11 months when reviewed.I’ve had these smoke detectors installed for a little over 1 year and connected to be monitored with my Ring alarm system. The batteries needed to be replaced after 1 year, so that was the first thing I wasn’t pleased with. I am away on vacation with poor cell signal, and found out that there was a smoke alarm about a half hour after it started. At this point the police and fire department had already responded. I did some research and discovered that false alarms with this particular detector are common. I have since disabled the monitoring so I don’t waste anymore precious time from the PD and FD. The false alarm started and ended in the same minute… the house was unoccupied with everything non-essential turned off… completely ridiculous.

So far so good.
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. It was easy to set up and stall. The AA batteries Included is a plus. Wireless feature is definitely I liked. I am not that of a handy person. I got 10 of these and was able to install myself. The size was almost same as the old one and fitted without affecting the ceiling paint. Can recommend this product.

Best Value as long as you have Ring
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Have Ring? Get This smoke detector. So easy to set up with Ring. If it detects smoke it has a light for that and Ring Will contact you just in case you are burning food on the stove, but if the CO ever goes off Ring will contact you but they'll also contact the fire department and you can't cancel it, but WHY WOULD YOU? CO is colorless orderles and tasteless but it will kill you easily. Plus the Ring App even lets you know what level the battery percentage is and will warn you if someone tampers with it. Hopefully I'll never have to use it, but I am glad it is in the household for my family and myself.

Smoke Detector
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Product os excellent. Staff at two (2) NYC Best Buys were not aware the product was available. I had to repeatedly request a manager's assistance. It seems best to request the manager ror this type of purchase.

Easy integration with Ring security system.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I wanted a system that was interconnected so if one alarm triggers they all do. Thanks to these detectors and the Ring Security System with Base Station I was able to get what I wanted. Easy to add to the Ring system where I can make sure they are monitoring my house for carbon monoxide and fire. I’m even able to check the battery life and label each device with the room they’re monitoring.

Q: QuestionDon’t want smart anything.does it work without Ring.?
Asked by NoRing.
- A:Answer Yes, without the smart hubs or ring, the device works just like a regular smoke/CO2 detector.

Q: QuestionDoes this model communicate with other like models such that if one alarm sounds, they all do? (like Nest)
Asked by MGh.
- A:Answer Yes, even though there are no wires this unit offers a wireless communication feature between all of the same model detectors so if one unit sounds an alarm they will all sound an alarm.

Q: QuestionIs this the model that also works with Smartthings?
Asked by Gerrod.
- A:Answer Gerrod, I was wondering the same thing. It appears to be the same model listed on Amazon that users state does work with Smartthings. The model name(Number) is pictured on both Amazon and Best buy as the Zcombo (rear photo). Best Buy only has a Model Number in it'sdescription. Not the "Zcombo" name. It's $13.66 cheaper on Best Buy. And Amazon wont deliver it in California. Win for BB. I'm buying two rom Best Buy and will report back if they do work with Smartthings. James

Q: QuestionDo you have to have zwave or the ring to install. Can I still get notification thru smart phone without ring of swabs
Asked by Liz.
- A:Answer The alarm can work stand-alone (i.e. it will alarm if there is smoke/CO). If this is all you are interested in then I wouldn't bother paying for the zwave capable device unless you are 'future proofing' If you wish to get notified through an application, you need to have a zwave hub to act as a bridge to your app and/or email system. This doesn't have to be a Ring branded hub but if you already have the Ring security system it works well with it (that is how I have configured my home). A couple notes about using these with Ring - one nice thing (besides getting clear alerts as to which device alarms) is that it will tell you if the battery is running low and needs changing. Rather than just changing the batteries every so often and likely tossing mostly good batteries away, you can watch for those that go low and replace when required.

Q: QuestionI have 2 ring cameras (outside) can this be link to my ring account? how will I get notified if something happens. I want to be alert my son gets home before i do and i want to make sure the house is safe before he goes inside.
Asked by Charger.
- A:Answer This will only work with Ring if you have the Ring Alarm system. You cannot pair it to your Ring cameras. You can also pair it with a smart home hub such as SmartThings.

Q: QuestionCan I silence a false alarm in the Ring App (like from cooking) before it contacts emergency services? Or do I still have to tap the physical button to turn it off.
Asked by Dgoldberg.
- A:Answer You can silence it within 25 seconds before ring monitoring is notified of the alert. If you system is using modes you can also choose to not have it monitored when you are disarmed or in home mode.

Q: QuestionHow much footage does this device cover?
Asked by Nia.
- A:Answer I hope you are asking about the smoke detector as I reviewed several items and it just shows a question so here goes. If not I'm apologize in advance. NFPA 72 the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, requires as a minimum that smoke alarms be installed inside every sleep room (even for existing homes) in addition to requiring them outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home. Additional smoke alarms are required for larger homes, For houses greater than 1,000 square feet per level, one alarm for every 500 square feet of floor space mounted on the ceiling and within 30 linear feet of another detector. Again if that wasn't the the correct item/question please forgive me as I know how mean keyboard warriors can be lol.
