Yes, without the smart hubs or ring, the device works just like a regular smoke/CO2 detector.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes these can work on their own. However, I would advise against spending the extra cost for a zwave compatible alarm. There is another alarm system by FirstAlert (and others likely) that while not 'smart anything' they do communicate with each other wirelessly. The benefit to this is that if one alarm goes off, they all go off which could be a life saving thing (earlier warning on top floor if basement alarm goes off). I would suggest you look into that if you haven't already. We had that system in place using alarms that could be set with locations so it would actually speak out "Smoke detected in XXX room" which gave us some comfort (I hate running around the house trying to figure out which alarm is triggered with false alarms in particular).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, we don't have the ring either. Its just a regular smoke and carbon detector when you don't have the ring.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, works without Ring system. We installed three recently but have not tested if all units will sound alarm together if one is triggered. Great units overall.
