First Alert - Plug-In Explosive Gas and Carbon Monoxide Alarm - White & Gray

I purchased an alarm about 15 years ago when they were first talking about them and every time you plugged it in it would constantly go off. The fire department comes thru our neighborhood once a year and I showed it to the fire marshall and he said it was junk and get my money back. I decided to buy a new one and IT WORKS.

I had to get this to replace my old one. This is a gas and carbon monoxide combo alarm. This particular combo seems to be hard to find. It was cheaper at Best Buy than Meijer. Set up is easy. You can plug it in vertical or horizontal. Testing is easy and the light up screen is easy to read.

The detector gives us a lot more peace of mind after having a gas leak under our house recently. Easy to read the detector. I would highly recommend it.

We purchased this to replace the exact same item that had been in place about five years. It is most convenient to be able to plug in this alarm and thereby reach it easily to replace the battery or to check on a beep or chirp. Whether the item actually detects gas or not I do not know and have, thankfully, never had occasion to discover at first hand, but unless the manufacturer withdraws it from the market, I can only assume that it has been tested to do what it claims to do. I would not discourage someone who, like me, finds it reassuring to have the alarm in place, but I would not actively advocate for the item as it is not cheap and I do not know if it actually works as advertised.

Bought for my parents; easy to plug in and for it to start monitoring. Was needed because their hot water heater was found to be leading carbon monoxide fumes....so a bit late to the party so to speak but thankfully, was found soon... but from this point forward, it will be monitored regularly. Great product and satisfied with purchase.
