Old GE Profile design, but works fine.
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. We had a GE Profile 2.0 cu. ft microwave (PEB2060SMSS) that, after 14 years, decided it had popped it's last bag of popcorn. So, given our space, we started looking for another GE Profile the same size; those don't exist (Profiles now 2.2 cu. ft). However, we found this non-Profile GE that's the same size. We initially viewed this microwave in store and quickly realized that this microwave is not just the same size, it is in fact the GE Profile we bought in 2008 just without the Profile name. The door and controls have a different look, but the rest of the microwave...every single detail...is the same. And, though the control panel looks a little different, the functions/buttons are the same as the old Profile version. The biggest differences are that the stainless in the new version is much much thinner and the display is green instead of blue. Why does this matter to you? Well, if you are replacing a cabinet installed 2.0 cu. ft GE Profile with a trim kit (GE JX2030SMSS in our case) and are looking to replace it without breaking the bank, this microwave will fit like a glove. We reused our old 30 inch trim kit with this "new" microwave just fine. FYI. The trim kit alone for the new Profiles costs more than this microwave. Before you jump out of your chair and run to buy one of these, be aware that GE says that this rear-vented microwave is not supposed to be installed in a cabinet. This may be a liability related decision on GE's part, but since we used this design intalled for 14 years without issue installed with the GE trim kit, we decided it was safe enough to use. One final note is that the trim kit we have included a vent duct installed on the side of the microwave where there is a vented opening. When I opened up the old microwave I found that there is nothing behind that vented opening and that the only venting in reality is to the rear. While I would give our old microwave 5 stars, I'm only giving this one 4 stars because the stainless trim on the door and controls is really thin and cheap. In fact, even though the box it was in was in perfect shape, there are small dents in the stainless of both the door and controls. On the one we saw in store, the door did not align properly.

Love this microwave
Posted .Great value and features. We like this much better than the two more significantly expensive Kitchenaid microwaves that we owned before. Reported reliability ratings for this model are encouraging as well. A bonus is I was able to use my Kitchenaid trim plate with minor modifications. Very happy with our purchase.

JES2051SN4SS Review
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Model number on Box is JES2051SNSS which was what was ordered.. Model number on Warranty card is JES2051SN4SS Serial Number: AS207178L Cost: $279.99 This microwave oven performs as expected from this well known brand. However, there are noteworthy and unexpected negatives: No printed User Manual. User must download and print 36 pages. The control features are diminished from what is advertised: 1. No HELP button 2. Beeper ON/OFF instead of Beeper Volume 3. No scroll speed control There are minor nuisance control panel Issues: 1. The display is somewhat occluded by masking which limits field of view 2. The control buttons are hard to press, especially for seniors or persons with long nails.

Great replacement for GE Profile
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. Our GE Profile went out that was only 4 years old. We we were looking for a microwave to replace it and thought of going with another brand. We needed one to fit into cabinet and be able to use the current frame we had after finding out the frame as $279 alone. We found out by reading reviews that there are others that have used this microwave to replace their profile and were pleased. Wel to say the least we are very pleased! It fits into the space our other microwave was in & we were able to use the same frame. The only thing that didn’t match up was the holes one the back of the microwave so we swapped out the backs and worked perfectly now. We love the new design of the curved back inside of the microwave too.

GE JES2051SNSSBest countertop microwave
Full Review
Q: QuestionI have a GE JEB1860SM1SS that I want to replace but it has been discontinued. Which model took it's place because I would like to keep the existing trim kit?
Asked by Gina.
- A:Answer Dont let GE fool you into buying a new trim kit and a very expensive Profile Series. I had the same model and when it broke I went and bought a JES2051SN4SS FOR $179. The one GE told me I needed was $380 plus they said I needed a new $250 trim kit. Nope. The old trim kit worked perfectly. Its identical with all the screw holes and easy to install. Took me 15 minutes to put on the trim kit and reinstall the new microwave.

Q: QuestionCan you turn off the beep tones for this unit?I want my microwave to be near silent, with no alerts for key press or cycle completion. Can this one do that? My ancient GE used to be able to!
Asked by Jon.
- A:Answer Hello, This is Donna with GE and I am happy to assist you. Yes, model JES2051DNBB does offer the option to adjust the sound level. This information is provided in the use and care manual on page 26. Sound Level - The beeper sound level can be adjusted. Press Beeper Volume. Choose 0–3 for mute to loud The display can be turned off also. Display On/Off : To turn the clock display on or off, press and hold 0 for about 3 seconds. The Display On/Off feature cannot be used while a cooking feature is in use. Both are great features!

Q: QuestionDoes this microwave really not have an interior cooking light? If there is a light, is it easily changeable from inside the oven?
Asked by Linds.
- A:Answer Hello Linds - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. This is a very nice countertop microwave. Yes, it does have an interior light which will come on when the door is opened and while it is cooking. The oven light is located within the inside walls of the microwave oven and would require a service technician to be replaced. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Q: QuestionNo, I'll put question differently. At bottom of outside of microwave unit what is the distance between back of unit and front feet?
Asked by Cjeannea.
- A:Answer Hi Cjeannea- The distance from the rear of the microwave to the front feet is approximately 16". It is important to note that the surface the microwave stands on should be the depth of the microwave, not just the depth to the front legs. This is a recommended safety precaution. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Countertop Models: 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. Q: QuestionI have a GE Profile PEB2060SM1SS that needs a replacement. It’s a discontinued model. What is a best replacement. Looking to keep the trim. Any advices? Thank you!
Asked by Murphy.
- A:Answer Hi Murphy, If you are looking to replace your microwave you would not be able to use the same trim kit. Trim kits are model specific. So, in choosing a new microwave, you would also need to purchase the trim kit that is associated with the new model should you want to make it built in. We are finding that the model: PEB9159SJSS should make for a nice replacement. There is also a trim kit associated with it. The part number for the 27" trim kit is here: JX9152SJSS and the 30" model is here: JX9153SJSS. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael

Q: QuestionHow to remove the FOOD word from coming up on the display when we hit the start button
Asked by Craig.
- A:Answer Hi Craig - Some microwave models have a built-in 5-minute internal timer as a safety feature preventing the microwave from cooking without food inside, since doing so can cause the unit to overheat. If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, opening and closing the door activates the switch, initiating the 5-minute internal timer. The door latch switch must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" or "Insert Food" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.” Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
