Summer’s great, but not if you’re stuck indoors without an air conditioner. Beat the heat this season with the Insignia NS-AC8WU3 350 Sq. Ft. 8,000 BTU U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner. A powerful BTU rating of 8,000 provides cool air for a room up to 350 sq. ft. Designed for vertical sliding windows, this air conditioner features an oscillating fan with 3 different speeds and both up/down and left/right adjustment options. A U-shaped construction reduces the amount of cool air that can escape while letting you keep your window closed or open. This air conditioner runs as low as 42 dBA – up to 9x quieter than most traditional units, while simultaneously using an inverter system and Energy Star certification to save you both money and energy. A handy air filter indicator and an auto restart mode both grant you the peace of mind in knowing this air conditioner has you covered no matter what. Finally, an included remote control lets you operate the unit from up to 26.2 ft. away. All this and more make this Insignia air conditioner an ideal way to stay cool and comfortable indoors.
Q: What is the advantage of a U shaped unit vs the standard type?
A: The compressor and fan are located outside the window. The window closes into the U-shaped area of the A/C, keeping the noise outside. This unit has an included steel window mounting bracket, an assortment of hard and soft foam insulation, and a detailed instruction manual. Once installed, it runs quieter and more efficiently than standard types. I bought one for the main living area in our new home, and was impressed with it enough to buy a second for the master bedroom suite. It also qualifies for a $40 energy star rebate!
A: The brackets utilize the appliance weight.
Q: Is this A/C okay to use with vinyl windows? Or is it too heavy?
A: Hello Ginger11, There are two types of clips to secure your window air conditioner; wood and vinyl, so you can choose which type of window you have. Insignia Support Louise www.insigniaproducts.com/support

Q: Is this unit safe for a room size of 150sq ft?
A: Safe? Not sure what that means. If you're wondering if it's powerful enough for 150 sq ft room, then most likely yes. Everybody has a different idea about this, but from what I've seen so far my personal answer would be yes.
A: The instructions note to ensure that the outside wall bracket is level or very very slightly tilting out. I installed unit so that the top of the outside wall bracket was level (the one you set the AC unit on) and have not had any problems with condensation. Since I have wood siding the little bracket rubber feet would not sit nicely. For me I fabricated a simple 1x2 redwood spacer that the AC bracket rubber feet rest on to get the top of the perfectly level. Worked for me.
Q: What is the lowest temperature setting on this unit?
A: It can get as cold as 60 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 degrees Celsius. I recommend placing it on the high fan settings to cool that the room down as fast as possible.
A: Hi Eric, • Make sure that the storm window’s drain holes or slots are not caulked or painted shut. Accumulated rain water or condensation must be able to drain out. • Attach a piece of wood across the entire window sill with nails or screws to correctly angle your air conditioner. Your air conditioner should be tilted back about 3-4° downward toward the outside. After proper installation, condensate should not drain from the overflow drain hole during normal use. If it does, adjust the angle of your air conditioner. • You must secure the support bracket to the added wood piece using the provided 1” type A screws.
